...with the Sugarcubes!
I think demonstrates the amazing vocal abilities of Bjork coupled with Einar Orn, making a great match, in my opinion..
Bjork's voice is amazing, she can really belt it out, while still staying in tune. Holding a note for so long and screaming, that you thinks she's going to rupture! But I revel in every moment! :-) She can go from the extreme to serene.
She usually sings lead while Einar joins in the background, he also plays on the trumpet. Einar's vocals provide good contrast. And while some complain Einar's lines are "cheesy" and ruin the songs, I disagree!
This cd is my favorite it containes more songs in Icelandic than the others, and I enjoy listening to the language.
The music is wonderful and very fun! The lyrics are intelligent and witty, like Traitor in which Einar sings "My punctuality is well known, when the revolution takes place, I'll be late and be shot as a traitor"
Or F**cking in Rythm & Sorrow where Bjork sings "You should use the pain and sorrow to fill you up with power, life's both sweet and sour!"
And sometimes just strange (but still very enjoyable!) Such as "Cowboy" (in which Einar sings lead) "I found my pony, but I paid a prize. I got a silver bullet through the heart. I'm a were-cowboy!"
One of my favorites is Delicious Demon, Bjork really belts it out.. The song is sung differently than the lyrics, which is the case with a lot of the songs. :-)
Einar sounds extra suave on "Blue Eyed Pop" which he starts out: "This Blue Eyed Pop, it's just fabulous. To go twisting, boogieing, in beat with the thousand pound snare sound. After boogieing we all crave for a hot dog splashed with noise. Queue and spew, then back to our love nest, need I say more?
