4.0 out of 5 stars romance with true history, Jan 5 2012
By vee - Published on Amazon.com
This was my first book by this author and I must say I really enjoyed it. I got it free but it deserves its price . I loved the fact that the author stayed true to history while writing a compelling romance between a strong pair of lovers.I was pulled into the story, so much that it was a case of feeling as they did.i highly recommend this one to true lovers of historical romance.Yes there is sensuality but it is within the context of marriage which for me is a must.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good historical romance, Jan 20 2012

I liked this book because it had great period detail and the characters stayed true to their era. The weren't modern people thrown into a historical setting, which is something I think happens a lot in romance books. They were strong people, and there is a bit of moral ambiguity in the book in terms of bad vs good, which i think adds to character development. The heroine was strong and principled with out being a brat. The hero might have been a bit perfect but it works. I just wish there was more dialogue between the two. Anyhow I reccomend it to those wanting a plot in their romance books with out too much sex for sex sake.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoying this author's writing, Jan 13 2012
By Gator Girl "Christine" - Published on Amazon.com
I enjoy historical fiction/romance's and this author does it well. This was a free download for my kindle fire and I have really enjoyed this author's writing style and how she handles her "romances". The hero and heroine don't exactly fall in deep love at first sight. Which I feel is realistic....I understand that there is instant attraction but you don't look at someone and just know that they will be "the one" for the rest of your life. And of course the couple has sex...but it's not just gratuitous sex to just say you wrote it in there. I really feel as though there is some "romance" involved. I like the heroes...they are not jerks but likable characters with strong values. And the heroines aren't whiny brats...

would also recommend another title by this author, the Raven and the Rose. This is actually the first one that I read. Now one of the couples that has a romance in this book does actually do the love at first sight thing...but it works.

The author uses vocabulary well....the only little gripe I would have is that she uses the term "dryly" way too much. As in, someone will respond dryly. It seems to be the only way the characters respond to each other....she really needs to find a new way to relate how people speak to each other.
