LittleBigPlanet’s critically acclaimed "Play, Create, Share” experience, makes its way to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) system, with a completely new Sackboy adventure. Play through 35+ levels and collect prize bubbles, costumes, and create materials. Create your own levels and challenges with the easy to use POP-IT tool. Once complete, Share your creations in ad-hoc mode or post them to the community pool in infrastructure mode. And, if you own both PSP and PS3 versions, unlock bonus content with LittleBigPlanet Cross-Talk.
Where would LittleBigPlanet be without a Create mode? Missing one of its key ingredients, and tasting slightly odd, that’s for sure. LittleBigPlanet PSP allows you to create just about anything your imagination can muster: Stick some cardboard together with some pistons to make your own race of scary machines, glue a rocket to a block and some wheels and jet up a ramp into space, and recreate your favorite restaurant from pieces of sponge. LittleBigPlanet PSP gives you the same creative experience as that found on the PlayStation 3 version, but now you can create things wherever you might travel to, or just in bed if you’re feeling lazy. Gameplay In LittleBigPlanet PSP, Sackboy takes a vacation from his hard life of swinging, jumping and gadding, and travels around the world to gather together Creator Curators to take place in the carnival. On this new handheld adventure, Sackboy will be getting lost in the Australian outback, helping to build a theme park in the desert, and starring in a series of movies in the glittering lights of Tinsel Town.
Once your masterpiece is complete, you can publish it to the community and share it with the world. Show everyone just how talented you are, and relish in their praise. Of course, if you prefer to play rather than create, you can browse through the vast imagi-sphere and select one of the many, many player created levels that make up this ample community. A charming dose of fun.,

Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Little Big Planet (Bilingual manual) (Video Game)
Little Big Planet on the PSP is a wonderful amalgamation of cleverness, cuteness, and fun.You play as Sackboy. A little person with a big heart, as he goes from place to place doing his best to help those in need. This help could take form anywhere between helping a director make his movie to returning a dragon egg to it's mother. Each chapter is broken up into levels, which have their own unique look. Each part of the story takes place in a different area of the world, which inspires the art for each stage. Each level is played on a two plane world of platforming adventure. That is to say, although you're essentially moving on a 2D plane, there is one level of depth allowing you to move one step away from (then back towards) the screen. You'll be running, jumping, swinging and falling through this colourful land pushing and pulling various objects to solve a variety of switch puzzles. Flying tethered jet packs, and riding a crazy collection of creatures and conveyances also adds to the fun ways to get around. The developers did a great job at keeping the level design mixed up, and throwing in new surprises to keep the game feeling fresh. The puzzles are usually simple but clever. The action and pacing makes for an experience that is most often light-hearted fun. However, going for the top score, and looking to collect everything there is to collect will keep you coming back for more as you try to up your skills. Some items you'll be looking to unlock will be new wardrobe items for your Sackperson. This will let you change the skin (or cloth) colour of your character, along with the look of their hair, clothes, footwear and fashion accessories. The most interesting thing I found to unlock were the bonus levels. These are unlocked by finding hidden items in the story missions, and usually consist of a mini-game (perhaps flinging cows around) or a race against the clock over treacherous terrain. It was in a few of these races where I found lay the biggest challenges in the game. The story mode is relatively short, and if you're looking to simply make it from start to finish as quickly as possible, skipping the extras, you could likely do it in just 2-3 hours. Of course that's not where the developers intended on having the fun end. In addition to the enjoyment the bonus levels add, you can also create your own levels. You can then share your levels, or go online and download from the library of levels other users have created. Sadly I didn't find the selection of user levels for the PSP version to be that grand; or at least the selection of levels that earned high ratings. The controls are fairly tight, with little room for improvement. You can tell that quality level design plays a big role in making the controls work as well as they do. It was rare when playing through the story mode that I wished for a little more refinement with them, but more often this feeling came around when I was playing some of the lesser quality user-made levels. I appreciated the sound track in the game, which came with fitting music and sound effects. It was all catchy without being tiring and repetitive. The voice-overs for your guide that comes around during any kind of tutorial was well cast and a pleasure to listen to. Little Big Planet on the PSP is full of creativity, and serves as a great amalgamation of old methods meeting new ideas.

This game is very simple and the graphics aren't great however it seems like once you start playing, you just can't stop. It does get slightly repetative, but over all its a great game that I would definately recomend. Plus once u finnish the game there are special bonus levels and you can design your own maps. Pretty sweet if you ask me!

I picked up this game and was a little worried how it would compare to the PS3 version. Well, I can tell you this game is loads of fun and well worth the price. The levels are fairly large and the graphics are incredible. Plus you can make levels yourself and also download other's levels. The controls on this game are also spot-on. So far I feel this is one of the best game for the PSP. I was justing thinking about selling my PSP, not now.

I bought the PS3 last year mostly for the blue-ray player. Little did I know that this grandma would become a huge fan of LBP. I play with other SackBoys & Girls from all over the world. With over 1.6 million user created levels as of Dec 2009, the game has no end. But what to do when traveling? Now you can take LBP with you on your PSP.This version does not have the depth and detail of the PS3 version, but the fun factor is still there. Great new levels, cool music, and portability rates 5 stars. Built on the smaller PSP platform, there is no multi-player function. You can still create your own levels and publish them to the web. You can download other player creations to your PSP and play them whenever & wherever you want (no need to be online). I found it much easier to create on the PSP than the PS3 as there are only 2 planes of play instead of 3 and you are only limited by your imagination. I highly recommend LPB for the PSP and PS3. My grandkids have the WII, XBox and many games.. but it's LBP they want to play! So Santa is bringing it to them this Christmas. Now we will be able to explore new Sack Worlds and create our own levels together. They will also learn how to co-operate to make it through Sack Worlds, create their own costumes, decorate their pods (bedrooms), and play online with other Sack Kids. They will learn physics (and not even realize it).Bolts, winches, bombs, gas, elastics, string, stickers, stone, wood, glass are just a few items that are used to create levels (Video training included). This game is family fun at it's best and LBP for PSP just lets you take it on the road! 9 of 11 people found the following review helpful

I pre-ordered this game, and received it the 17th.I beat it the next day. However, the game never ends, as you are always re-playing the levels, accessing things you couldn't before. And then the reason why I bought it. Making levels! Anything is possible, with switches, gears, pistons, and multiple materials. Overall, 5/5. |
