5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best live albums. Nov. 30 2003
Format:Audio CD
If you're not familiar with 311 or you're new, this album is a must for all fans alike. There are no fillers in this one and it's sure to keep you pleased.
A fine note: We're tributed to a drum solo by Chad Sexton on Applied Science. Chad is an awesome drummer and you shouldn't look him over. There are also solos from P-Nut and Tim Mahoney. The quality isn't bad, and I prefer some of these songs live rather then the studio versions. Some great examples are Omaha Stylee, Hydroponic, Who's Got the Herb, Beautiful Disaster, and Nix Hex.
Put it in, press play, and enjoy.

3.0 out of 5 stars GO SEE THEM LIVE July 29 2007

If you haven't seen 311 live, do it now! Seriously, this album proves that they sound just as great.

Unfortunatly, this is just a souvenir. It does feature three ample changes (applied Science with it's drum solo, ) and 2 songs not featured on the albums (well, one's rare, who's got the Herb makes it's only appearance here). These songs are must here's, but the rest are just a souvenir, with the atmosphere that most people love. I would rather just see them live whenever I can. I reccomend finding a way to pay for the live songs on a service.

This ain't the live expirence. See them live instead, then save the rest for an afterthought. Do the rest.

311 Live is the ultimate 311 live experience in audio form. If you have yet to see the band live this album will give you a good enough idea of how great the band is live in concert. If you have seen them live then you already know how amazing it is and that no other band has such an energetic and fun concert experience. I have been a fan of the band for years, since the late 90's and unfortunately I have yet to see them live. I would have loved to see the band live in the 90's when their live show was the tightest and most energetic of their career. This album captures the greatness that was the 311 live experience during the band's prime.

The album was recorded during the band's tour in support of the Transistor album in 1997. It' a great, clear sounding soundboard recording. Scotch Ralston was the band's live sound engineer back then so it's no surprise that every instrument is easily audible. The bass sounds great and SA's turntables can be heard. This album's got a live version of Tribute which is great because it's a b-side song that is rarely performed live and this version of the song is performed flawlessly. It also has great live versions of Beautiful Disaster, Down, Feel So Good, Homebrew and Galaxy. All in all it is a great live album that any 311 fan would appreciate. Respect to all of the excitable ones. 311 rocks.
5.0 out of 5 stars A great mix of the earlier 311 songs Jan. 14 2012

311 is my favorite band from the 90s and really the first band I identified with. This is a nice mix of the earlier music they made and could really be considered a best of. The live recordings are great quality and include a bass solo in Feels So Good and a drum solo in Applied Science. The music from this time period is a lot more raw than the later music they made which I feel sounds more polished. I think they had the best mix of reggae in their music during this time period--funny for a bunch of guys from Nebraska. If you heard some music recently from the Uplifter album and were looking at 311's older work, consider this record, because it will give you the best mix of their old music, a lot of their gems were never singles.
