4.0 out of 5 stars More Great Live Beck, Dec 29 2011
By
Doug Olender (Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Live at B.B. King Blues Club/Collect (Audio CD)
After suffering a drought of live Jeff Beck for many years, fans are finally getting some live Beck to listen to. I bought this one, the Grammy Museum show and the Ronnie Scott DVD. This one is very good, but make sure you check out the Performing This Week at Ronnie Scott's DVD, that one gets 10 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Astounding Jeff Beck Live Concert CD !, Oct 18 2011

This review is from: Live at B.B. King Blues Club/Collect (Audio CD)
This is a must live CD for Jeff Beck fans and all fans who love virtuosic guitar playing. This 2003 concert was amazing as the Jeff Beck, Tony Hymas and Terrio Bozio trio awed and enthralled a New York City crowd with a frenetic and mindblowing concert. For the last four decades Jeff Beck has been recognized as a paragon of his craft who has complete mastery and control of his guitar. The setlist is replete with fretboard audio ear candy including "Psycho Sam", "Big Block", "Freeway Jam" and the robust "Brush With The Blues". The regal "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" is a jazzy classic. "Nadia" showcases Beck's love of Eastern world music. "Angel" (Footsteps) is one of the most emotive guitar instrumentals ever performed. "Where Were You" is another ethereal and poignant masterpiece that is profoundly revered by Jeff Beck's fellow guitar wizards. The CD is consistently exemplary as it gloriously closes with Beck's iconic rendition of the Beatles' "A Day In The Life", the wondrously spiritual "People Get Ready" and the blistering ferocity that resonates throughout "My Thing." This live concert performance is audio proof that nobody plays guitar better than Jeff Beck. He only needs to rely on his bare fingers to create his man-made guitar magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great audio -quality and a blistering performance!, Dec 8 2011
By herb "nice name huh?" - Published on Amazon.com

I am a huge Beck fan and I never even knew this was coming until seeing it in the store today. I have heard about half of this so far and it is great! I may have a bootleg of this show, but even if I do the quality is astounding here! I am a bit of an audiophile so the quality is really critical for me. This does not dissappoint! Beck is on fire too.
I would advise anyone who loves Jeff Beck to purchase this disc. If only, If only there were a DVD coming after this! There's so much amazing footage out there on Beck and I would love it if he keeps the recent trend up of offerring live DVD's. *If anyone knows of plans for such can you please comment on this review about it?

It is just staggering to think what kind of mindset Jeff Beck is in when he is "on". I mean this guy is improvising almost the whole time. How many people can just launch- off without knowing where they are going? What an incredible mind and what a confidence zone one would have to be in in order to do this stuff. He makes other guitarists seem so pedestrian.
Amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beck live in New York with Guitar Shop band: Priceless., Jan 25 2012
By D. L. Worthing "Graphic Designer" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Live at B.B. King Blues Club/Collect (Audio CD)
This performance captures the reunited Guitar Shop band of Tony Hymas, Terry Bozzio and, of course, the guitar god, Jeff Beck. Recorded and released in 2003 in only Japan and limited to his website, it is now finally available for all us Beck fanatics. It is an outstanding recording and catches the band at it's finest. From the opening track "Roy's Toy" to the the usual Beck staples; Freeway Jam, Goodbye Pork Pie Hat and a Day in the Life, this disc was worth the wait. It's out-frickin-standing.
