Raw and Powerful Purple,

Recorded in the earliest stages of the Machine Head tour at KB Hallen in Copenhagen, "Live In Denmark 1972" finds the MKII version of Deep Purple at their incendiary best. While not as polished as the "Made In Japan" performances, this early show smokes right from the pedal to the metal opening of Highway Star through to closing number Black Night. While raw, the sound is far superior to bootleg quality as the show was originally recorded for a radio broadcast and film. The master used for this CD is from the original mono broadcast mix.Ian Paice's drums really come through more than on "Made In Japan". Ditto Ian Gillan's vocals. And there's plenty of Richie Blackmore pyrotechnics, especially on Space Truckin' where he absolutely trashes his strat. This 2 CD set is a must for any true Deep Purple fan as it offers a great listen to the embryonic stages of the tour with a quite different set list from later dates...No Smoke On The Water but a killer cover of Little Richard's Lucille. This show is also available on the DVD, "Live In Concert '72/'73". Great CD! I've been listening to it for the last few months off and on and keep coming back to it. Yes, I am a Purple fan. So will most who purchase this. It is taken off the DVD remixed etc. Sounds amazing. They play so damn good. The video is also great. Can't recommend it more. There isn't that much early Mark II out there. Gillan and Blackmore are in top form. Everyone is in top form. Of course it's not as good as Made in Japan but what is? That said it is one of the top 5 live DP albums. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this CD.
