5.0 out of 5 stars Convenient and bridges the gaps May 29 2011
By Robbie

The new networked TV's are great but some of the formats are missing from the built-in capabilities so this covers that issue. The presence of a hard drive just improves the utility for people who may want to reach their media away from their network.

I think these units stand up great on their own but I use them more as an accessory in the household setup. Very impressed with the frequent firmware updates as well. The device has been adding many interesting internet media options since the original purchase. The file accessibility has improved through the updates as well.

I have two and recommend the unit for someone with basic+ computer skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good device May 18 2011
By CHRIS
It's the best thing I bought to go with my tv.
It does what it says it does, the video formats, audio formats, etc.
New firmware updates added a few simples games to it, and a few more online services just like the other devices like this.
Netflix works great on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yup - this is good May 23 2011
Bought this a couple of weeks ago and aside from a little DOA glitch, am very impressed. Seems to play everything I have in computer format (Mac users should definitely try Ripit, which gives you menus and all the goodies from DVD) and seems to connect to everything I have in the house. Very nice menu system, and the whole system takes up the same space as an average external hard disk. Very tricky to criticize this at all. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I recommend it. May 28 2011

Very powerful, easy to use, versatile (network external hard drive, media player, digital photo frame, etc..). Good connectivity, easy to configure. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small, noiseless, easy to install July 19 2012
By Cadavre
Small, noiseless, easy to install. What more can I say? The only con would be that it seems that it's only possible to update the firmware using the TV. It's not possible to push an update from a computer or from the web interface. Other than that I would gladly buy another one. I have almost filled the I TB hard disk.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC!! July 9 2012
Verified Purchase
I bought this on sale plus free shipping. it arrived 2 days later and the product itself is awesome. i have been looking at this for sometime. you can not find a good media player for less than $100, you can not find a 1 TB hard drive for less than $100. big box stores could not match the price at all. now for the product if you like to stream video its great. if you like to download from your computer and be able to have an endless amount of freedom away from a dvd library this is awesome. Im very pleased with this, WD has done a fantastic job. its portable or send out wirelessly to any tv in the house.

A great purchase and very easy to use if your computer smart and patient.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't know how I lived without it March 25 2013
By Andrew

Don't know how I lived without it. Simple setup, easy to use. This little device is great, especially if you are NOT using wireless. If you are using wireless, you may notice a bit of a lag playing back videos. But that's not the WD's fault. If you connect it with an ethernet cable - flawless!

4.0 out of 5 stars DU VRAI MULTIMÉDIA Sept. 5 2011
By humdrum
