This page is supposed to be for the Jane's Addiction limited edition Live and Rare Coffin Box ( ). From the 3 used ones posted for sale only one mentions the item. Unlike the cardboard coffin sets released by Metallica, The Misfits, and Megadeth, the Jane's coffin is made of wood with metal latches. Only 1,000 were made and each is numbered by a small metal plate that reads R.I.P., coinciding with the bands breakup of the original lineup in 1991.
Along with the japan release of the Live & Rare CD, Lyric sheet, booklet, and OBI, the coffin also includes a numbered sheet of parchment paper, and four pictures. ( Flamboyant guitarist Dave Navaro is the only band member with no photo in the set )
Before investing in this 25 year old item, I would suggest opening a line of communication with the seller. That way you can ask for pictures of the Coffin, and make sure that all its contents are still intact. A stock photo of this box set is not enough to go by.

I copped JA's Live And Rare nearly ten years ago. The thing about this album is that it is intended for the JA fan, yet it doesn't yield anything particularly rare. It opens with the song that catapulted them to fame: a remix to 'Been Caught Stealing' that features polished guitars and some alternate placement of lyrics. Two tracks later is a decent live concert medley of 'L.A. Woman', 'Nausea' and 'Lexicon Devil'. The centerpiece of the record is the epic 'Three Days' that features nothing different from the original album version apart from it being split into two sections. Add three other live tracks and three demos and that is what you get.
