Recorded on the Dallas date of the 2003 Summer Sanitarium arena tour, with Metallica, Limp Bizkit, et. al, Live in Texas is a concise, no-frills two-disc DVD/CD souvenir of the muscular Linkin Park live experience. 5.1 Surround Sound captures every nuance of Brad Delson's explosive guitar, the incendiary turntable flourishes of DJ Joseph Hahn, and the interplay between MC Mike Shinoda and singer Chester Bennington (although the audience sing-along on "Numb" gets lost across the barricades), as the sextet runs through a tight set of selections drawn exclusively from its bestsellers Hybrid Theory and Meteora, with the big hits ("Crawling," "In the End") programmed toward the climax. Casual fans may grumble about the absence of extras--there's no backstage-with-the-band documentary or viewing angle options, no previously unreleased songs--but hardcore devotees (who get plenty of face time on the DVD) should appreciate the opportunity to revisit the thrills of Linkin Park in concert whenever they wish. --Kurt B. Reighley

"No other nu-metal band of the rap/rock generation has garnered as much attention and success as Southern Cali's Linkin Park," is a statement well said. Now they're out with a new take on their older and newer songs. From Hybrid Theory to Meteora, this dvd/cd combo shows Linkin Park at its best by rendering their older hits while staying focused on songs that never became a known track such as "A Place For My Head", "Runaway", "Papercut", "By Myself", and many more. On the other hand, I watch the DVD every single day on my computer and it always keeps me entertained. I say if you buy any of Linkin Park's releases BUY THIS ONE!! I would have liked all of the songs on the cd instead of twelve selected songs, but that is a miniscule detail compared to the overall rating. I personally dislike the extras and bonus-footage, so having that gone from the complete package is a plus (in my opinion, of course). Yet, if you are into the mentioned above, unfold the cd/dvd package and in the middle fold reach in the slit (upward) and pull out a red packet which has a lot of pictures from the live preformances to keep you somewhat entertained. Overall, I recommend this to anyone who is into the genre of 'nu-metal'.

This is a CD/DVD package set of Linkin Park in concert. It was recorded for 2 dates in Texas while they were on Metallica's Summer Sanitarium Tour of 2003. I was lucky enough to be at the concert that was filmed/recorded in Houston, and this package is an excellent reminder of what it was like to be there. I think the DVD is my favorite part of the 2, because it shows the entire set from beginning to end with all the stuff in-between. The video and audio quality on this DVD is top notch, and would be excellent for blasting through a good entertainment center. However, I would've liked to have seen more back-stage footage, but the rest of the DVD is great! As for the CD, it sounds really good, and the songs are just as carefully orchestrated as they are on the albums. But I was a little disappointed that they left off some of the songs that they played....all the songs you see on the DVD was the actual set list...much longer than what the CD has on it. Still, you get a great CD and DVD together for a cheap price. All of the bands biggest songs are here: One Step Closer, Crawling, In The End, Papercut, Points Of Authority, Somewhere I Belong, Faint, Numb, Lying From You, From The Inside, and more! Perfect for Linkin Park fans!

I am fairly new to the LPU (Linkin Park Underground). I heard Linkin Park for the first time about 1 year ago and was completely blown away.
For years, I have been searching for a new sound. I was tired of pop, rap, and poor-is-me grunge. The music industry was so busy pumping out clones that we were getting nothing new.
That is until.... Linkin Park hit the scene!
I must confess I was concerned about the live sound. Chester has such a strong voice and I was afraid it would hard to duplicate his sound outside the studio. (Plus, I didn't think his voice would take it) To my surprise, Chester does an amazing job in a live setting. In fact, the live performance adds so much since you are able to see the feeling and the energy he puts into his performance.
In listening the their studio work, the singers (Chester and Mike) overlap each other quite a bit. This is very hard to re-create effectively in a live performance but they did a superb job.
To be fair, the guitar lead in for crawling was a bit flat compared to the studio, but remember, in the studio things are mixed and re-mixed. Live, the guitarist, Brad, only has one guitar to perform the whole song with. So, it's ok. The song still rocked.
Also, be sure to look for the very expressive Mr. Hahn. His intensity is amazing. For those of you who do not think its art to scratch and mix records, watch this man work. I was amazed.
Rob (drummer) and Phoenix (bass) do a great job in their own right. Very powerful and very engaging.
Overall, this DVD is a must have for any collection.
p.s. Metallica, you were the kings of metal until you pissed off all your fans. You are still paying the price and probably wont recover. Linkin Park has the power and attitude to keep you off your throne. It's too bad. You were a great band. :-(

Let me first tell you that I was a big fan of Linkin Park when they came out with there firat album Hybrid Theory, I fell in love with that album I must have listened to the alum for 5 mouthes striaght. And I cound not waith for there next album. Then came that remix album witch was nothing but a waste of money! And I was pissed that I speant money for that trash. Then a year later came Meteora and that was not such a great album as there first but it was ok, 1/4 of they album had good songs. So any way I went to see the Summer Sanitarium tour in New Jersey where I live (witch was a great show, but don't have Limp Bizkit next year please!) Linkin Park really rocked the house that day it was amazing. Then on to the live album, it is a great live album and a great DVD. It is really worth the prise of the record. There is only one song on the record that clearly sucks and it's the P5hing me A*ay if they would have done the record version not the stupied remix it would have been a lot better for the album. The crowed on the record was amazing. You really noties on the track Crawling when the crowed sings the chorus of the song, it is so amazing and so Loud. This is a real must have for any Linkin Park fan or just a fan of live cds. Thanks for reading
