Product Description

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. Live archive release from the veteran singer/songwriter, an album of unreleased live performances from late 1970. The album is the latest in Young's ongoing Archives Performance Series, and it collects recordings made during the Canadian singer/songwriter's intimate six-show solo stand at The Cellar Door, a venue in Washington D.C., between November 30th and December 2nd, 1970. Since the gigs were only a few months after his timeless third solo album, After The Gold Rush, was released and five of the thirteen tracks here are from that very record, including 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart' and 'Don't Let It Bring You Down'. Also featured, is 'Cinnamon Girl' performed on piano rather than guitar, a handful of Buffalo Springfield songs, including 'Expecting To Fly' and 'Old Man' which wasn't released until two years later on 1972's Harvest album.

LP played flawless. Wonderful concert recording, Neil Young with piano and Neil Young with guitar providing sparse and early fresh versions of future classic songs.

Watch out for several skips on "Old Man" due to a faulty pressing. I bought two copies, one from Amazon and one from a local store and found the same fault.

Another great release from the vaults in a masterful recording. I only wish I could've been there to see this in person!

This sound very nice. This is a great performance of Neil at his peak. It sounds like you ar in the the front table watching him play piano and guitar form new material from Harvest and After The Gold Rush. Excellent sound.

Exactly what you want from Neil young. Great quality recordings and the songs you want to hear. My only issue is the all paper/cardboard packaging will be less then durable in the long run.

Excellent, thoughtful, gut-wrenching versions of songs we already have in our cloudy minds. Not as crisp and clear as the final album versions but, for completists and solid fans, a must.
