Unlike their first studio album,the sound is excellent here,only seven tracks opposed to 10 on the debut album,you got that right,but I think my ears would'nt have taken one more of the 24 excrutiating minutes this album clocks in at,that loud,vicious,raw,powerful,@ss kicking this record is.Plus,you get 2 tracks not available on the first album which are real killers,as the rest of the song,which are ferocious and mercilessly played as if the band were trying to kill their audience,literally.Weird fact that this is a live STUDIO recording,with a scarce bunch of fans brought into it to cheer the band,you'll notice that from crowd chanting,they sound like no more than 12 guys,but it is a direct recording indeed,complete with in-between songs banter and all,so what the f*ck,we're talking EARLY SLAYER AT THEIR VERY BEST !!!!!!!!!!

~This album was recorded in a studio, with an audience track added in later. You can hear people talking in normal voices during the songs, (as if there wasn't a band playing at all) and sometimes can be heard shouting what the song is way before it's even played. It was stated to be fact that this was done in a studio on the Soundtrack to the Apocaplyse release. ~Also of mention is that this remastered version done by Metal Blade Records in 1993 does NOT feature the better sounding Chemical Warfare as the original did. Apparently Brian Slagel wanted to drag as much money out of these releases as he could by seperating Show, Haunting, Live and Hell into 4 entities... rather than doing the more logical (and fan-friendly) thing by combining the albums into a 2 disc set for a dscount price. Let's face it, Slayer's albums rarely ever exceed 30 or 40 minutes. Last I checked a CD could hold 75 to near 80 minutes of non-compressed data. ~However the remaster sounds very good, the songs are some of the more memorable ones from the early days and performed very well. If you've ever wanted to hear Show No Mercy songs with a different production this is a great way to do it. Now if only the band would go back to this style instead of riding the coattails Nu-metal like Max Cavalera's Stirfry...
