Product Description

From Amazon.com

Yanni can be likened to 1970s rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer. There are several basic parallels, especially in this orchestra-enhanced concert reworking of his more propulsive, anthemic compositions. Yanni, who in concert sometimes strikes the rapturous two-keyboard "iron-cross" pose that served as one of Keith Emerson's trademarks, uses, as ELP did, classical and world-music influences to elevate pop-inclined compositions to more sophisticated levels. He then turbocharges the whole concoction with bold strokes of prog-rock bravura to give his finest pieces a dramatic, chest-swelling, larger-than-life impact. A key difference between the two acts, of course, is Yanni possesses a much stronger romantic streak, plus he refrains from attacking his keyboards with sharp objects. At his best, Yanni strikes incendiary sparks with the driving, celebratory quality of his music, and this production, culling some of the best audio moments from his much-televised 1993 concert performance in Athens, is a most appealing showcase. Yanni can sometimes strike the sonic hammer as forcefully as a Greek god ("Santorini," "Keys to Imagination") and, on this album at least, gives even overtly romantic pieces ("One Man's Dream," "Swept Away") a warmly masculine flair. Beautifully arranged and recorded; a pleasure to experience. --Terry Wood

if you buy 1 Yanni album it should be this one. Aug 21 2004
Format:Audio CD
after watching the PBS special i thought to myself wow what a great bit of music so i went out and bought this album.after repeated playings i came away thinking there's now a bad bit of music here. shortly there after i saw a larry king special where Yanni was the guest and when asked where he gets his ideas from and how does he write his music . his answer was they just come to him. he then added his own belief that music should be uplifting and have passion in it. the listener he said should then be able to conjure up his/her own images and feelings when listening to the same.this is what this album does to me.listening to it is one big auditorial and visual trip. one mans dream for example leads me to images of a searching for a true love lost. while with standing in motion i can really see all these images of the world moving around an individual lost in the complexities that the world throws at us. i gave this album to a friend who at the time was quite ill with cancer. she later said that this CD was very uplifting and provided her with a sense of calm . two things she was really needing and having a difficult time finding. this is what Yanni was aluding to when he said music should supply people with feelings and images. Yanni is a talented individual. some people will have no use for him but to me he's one very talented composer. he's not for everybody but if you decide you just have to have a Yanni album this one should be it. oh and i must add the support Yanni receives from the individual musicans and the london symphony is first rate. 5 stars .

Fantastic!!! Absolutely Awesome Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! April 5 2004
Format:Audio CD
Unbelievably Amazing!!! I just love Yanni's music! I feel as though I have grown up with his music all my life. I never really realized how his music touches my heart and soul. It is the way it plays his music, such as, Santorini, Keys to Imagination......Who says you can't dance to his music? Even my mother just can't understand that with feeling, rhythm and beat, one can dance to anything! Acroyali/Standing in Emotion is wonderfully composed perfectly! No one could compare to Yanni's music. Within Attraction , Nostalgia and even Swept Away, and Reflections of Passion emit soooooooooo much emotion. I will never forget when I spoke to Yanni when he was on Channel 2 for a special event.

Probably the best of the Yanni albums Mar 5 2004
By Dan
Format:Audio CD
With each of the orchestral instruments individually mic'd, it is no surprise that this cd delivers a rich and satisfying sound. Reflections of Passion is beautiful as always and One Man's Dream doesn't fall short of a simple masterpiece. Not everyone will love this album, but if you like instrumental music, you won't be disappointed. If you do enjoy Yanni, also check out a new artist by the name of Josh Kramer. His album is called "Stepping Out". It is almost like a combination of Jim Brickman (with added talent) and Yanni, with flares of Danny Elfman and Rachmaninoff here and there. I found it here on Amazon.com

A Wonderful and Historic Live Concert
This is a breathtakingly good album. It features many of Yanni's most loved compositions perfomed in the dramatic live setting of the Acropolis in his native Greece. Read more

You've got to be kidding
Lets start by saying I paid only $1.00 for this cd, at a thrift store. I've always been intrigued by this artist, a sort of instrumental version of Tommy Bolton. Read more
