HASH(0xa6ca8120) out of 5 stars Live "Live" Dec 5 2008
By Christine Marston - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Live is one of those bands who do not seem to get the respect they deserve - too often they are measured by Throwing Copper and the records since then are always somewhat dismissed. But if you have listened to their records, or have been lucky enough to see them in concert, you will know why they have so many fans.

And this CD captures what makes the band so good- the energy and performances comes through here. With the number of Albums they have released there will be some tracks missing that anyone who is a Live Fan would like to hear, but despite that this is a good sampler and contains the major hits people know - "Lighting Crashes" and "I Alone", but the magic is in some of the other songs.

"Dolphin's Cry" off the Distance to Here, is a good example. Though it was a semi hit, it was not as big as others but when you hear the fans start singing at the beginning with Ed, well it did send chills down my spine since I always loved that song. "Overcome" is another one like that.

I hope they do another concert record so some of my other favorites are included, but until then I am very happy with this.

HASH(0xa6ca8528) out of 5 stars Excellent Live Live Performance Dec 25 2008
By LJ - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I normally don't care for live shows on CD (live as in recorded performances of bands in general) This one, however, is an exception. I bought it because I'm a Live fan but didn't really expect to like it very much. Wow. It actually has stayed in the CD player for days without being taken out. It's a great performance by Live which was masterfully recorded. Must have for anyone who likes Live.

HASH(0xa6ca85a0) out of 5 stars Great CD, even if incomplete. Dec 2 2008
By B. Clark - Published on Amazon.com

This was a heck of a show from Live and I definitely recommend this CD for any Live fan. I would have given it 5 stars, but it bothers me that it's incomplete. The DVD wasn't even complete and this has multiple songs left off that were on the DVD. Obviously they can only add so many songs to a CD, but I think this should have been 2 discs like a lot of live CDs out there. They had a perfect crowd at a perfect venue with plenty of songs to play, so why not go all out with the release?

HASH(0xa6ca8348) out of 5 stars A masterpiece Nov. 20 2008
By C. Costas - Published on Amazon.com

This record tops Throwing Copper; it is Live's masterpiece in terms of quality and energy, while the new song "Purifier" is a killer - perhaps their best, along with "Like I Do" and "Lighthouse", since "The Dolphin's Cry". This release shows that Live is back to rock the world with a new studio album, hopefully in 2009.
HASH(0xa6ca8630) out of 5 stars Best Live Recording in years... Nov. 15 2008
By Dreamer - Published on Amazon.com
First and foremost, I am a huge fan of Live, so you may very well think this would be a bias review. However more than anything I am huge conoseur of live recordings. I have been to some incredible concerts and some you'd love to forget- so I am extremely picky about concert recordings that I purchase.
There are no other words to describe this album except to say "electrifyingly stunning." The quality of the sounds is utterly amazing- so distinct and clear that you would think that they were in the studio if it were not for the thunderous response from the crowd. Few bands can reach out and connect with an audience like these guys; if you've been to a concert then you know what I mean, and if you haven't, no worries- because it comes across on this album.
Live takes the audience and the listeners on a spiritual journey through each and every song: from the powerful songs like Lakini's Juice to the softer and emotional sides of Overcome (Which was released as a singe on September 11th - quite fitting). You want to weep when you hear the emotion coming through on The River, and you want to drive a hundred miles an hour to All Over You. Lightning Crashes... well, I approached this with honest skepticism. This song came out over a decade ago, and you'd think that after countless concerts and performances you'd hear the weariness when they play it. Thank God I was wrong and chills ran through me in the ending chorus.
The only downside is that there isn't any conversation between songs; Ed has great points of view and thoughts to share with audiences- he always makes me laugh; perhaps the record company wanted his thoughts off the record- literally.
Though I have not seen Live in a few years, it's nice to know that they are still rocking houses from West Coast to East Cost to Europe. You will not be disappointed whatsoever with this album, and unlike concerts, where you are blessed with that connection once every time they tour- now you can share that experience every day. In Ed's closing words "God Bless... Goodnight."
