Acupressure Self Help Book

About the Author

Born in India, Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad has made California her home since 1976. In an effort to solve her personal health problems suffered since childhood, and to help others with similar problems, she conducted research in the U.S. over the past fifteen years resulting in the development of a new and effective approach known as Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques(Naet), for diagnosis and treatment of allergies of all types.

She has pointed the way to perfect health by combining many methods and techniques form different disciplines of medicine including Allopathic, Kinesiology, Chiropractic, and Oriental Medical procedures of Acupuncture and Acupressure. Dr. Nambudripad has received extensive training in each of these fields, both in the United States and in the Orient.

To date, thousands of patients who could not find relief elsewhere have been successfully treated for both food and environmental allergies by NAET. Dr. Nambudripad conducts training seminars regularly in NAET open to currently licensed medical practitioners. She has trained over two thousand medical professionals in her special procedure on permanent allergy elimination.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Accupressure Manual, Aug 20 2002
By
Kirk McKay (Hornsby, NSW, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Living Pain Free with Acupressure: Acupressure Self Help (Paperback)
This book has been a godsend. With some experience in accupressure my wife and I have been able to use this book to address all sorts of ills. She once brought down a 104 F fever to normal in 2 hours using the pressure points in this book.

The only downside is that QA on the book is sorely lacking. Points on diagrams are missing in the narratives, the index does not include many common ailments that that are actually covered and can be found by browsing through the pressure point descriptions. There are many other editing mistakes. If this is cleaned up in the second edition, as a working manual this will be second to none.

5.0 out of 5 stars Living Pain Free Helps Reduce Pain for Me, Nov 14 2007
By
This review is from: Living Pain Free with Acupressure: Acupressure Self Help (Paperback)
I have used and tested Living Pain Free for many years now, and can say that the specific treatments recommended by Devi Nambudripad tend to be consistently effective in relieving both pain and conditions.

An earlier reviewer noted that she is not a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner, and this is true. However, it is highly likely that most TCM physicians are unfamiliar with the Ayurvedic Marma pints and Therapeutic methods, which I have the feeling this book is related to. The Marma points, which precede the TCM Canon of Medicine, are usually the same, but are far greater in number, and differ in some places from the TCM acupuncture points.

Thus, for example, her points are not always identical with the points in the Official Chinese Acupuncture Reference (which I also own).

Nonetheless, I have found that every thing I have tried (roughly 15 treatments over the past 6 years) has worked quite effectively for me and others to whom I have showed them.

So, I highly recommend this for those who wish to either reduce their pain or live pain free.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well illustrated and lots of symptoms covered, May 30 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Living Pain Free with Acupressure: Acupressure Self Help (Paperback)
I recently purchased both this book and "Say Good-Bye to Your Allergies" by the same author. This is the much better book - actual information on treating particular symptoms, rather than an extended apology for her NAET system of allergy treatment. The only thing that I really found more distracting than helpful was the use of medical terms when navigating to particular pressure points. I've read several books on accupressure, and this is the only one that requires a decent knowledge of 'Gray's Anatomy' to understand much of what she is saying. The illustrations go a ways to helping that, but I couldn't escape the feeling that the author was trying to make sure that readers knew she REALLY is a medically trained doctor.

Again, aside from that caveat, a good book with lots of maladies addressed.
