Product Description

Product Description

Liza Minnelli sings, dances, acts and pulsates with a fascinating and rare vitality. Daughter of the legendary Judy Garland, she has lived an extraordinary and unconventional life. Liza with a 'Z' explores Minnelli's work on stage and screen, including Cabaret and New York, New York, and takes us right up to the present day with her relationship and subsequent marriage to producer David Gest. The book also documents the full story of the couple's wedding and their adoption of a three-year old girl; Liza's brave fight to lay off the drugs and booze (a story that runs parallel to Judy Garland's) and her determination to lose 100 pounds in weight and recapture her vitality - all of which she has triumphantly achieved.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Loathsome book -- truly terrible, April 14 2009
By John H. Foote "John H. Foote" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Liza with a "Z" (Hardcover)
Being a fan of Liza I grabbed the book off the shelf without my usual once over -- had I done that I would have noticed the absolute lack of an index and bibliography, a dead giveaway that the book is the work of a hack -- Liza is one of the greatest stars of the 20th century and certainly deserves better than this sorry piece of trash -- My God, the woman gave one of the great film performances in Cabaret, and Freedland skims over the entire making of the film and the reviews Liza received -- a loathsome book, one of the worst bios I have read -- it will take a place in our washroom, and not for reading -- the pages will be put to good use in there.
