Michael has lost his mother to cancer, after caring for her with love and kindness. His alcoholic father abandoned the two of them a few years before. Michael's dream is to finish university, but in the meantime, he needs to work. A position opens up for him in a care home, where he patiently showers his kindness on the elderly, infirm residents.
The story is about relationships, love, forgiveness, vindication and second chances. Sensitivity to issues that many of us deal with undergirds this movie, as does the outstanding performance by Vanessa Redgrave. By daring to confront emotional pain, this movie leads us to an uplifting, hopeful ending. No violence. No profanity. No sex. A wonderful, encouraging story. I recommend it to families with teens.
