I purchased this remote for the radio frequency (RF)capability that would enable me to operate devices that were not with a direct sight line of the remote.
Right from the beginning, I was disappointed in the slowness and erratic response of my TV, DVR, cable box and sound bar to the remote. For starters, it turns on each device in sequence, which takes quite a while. In fact, given the frequency with which it fails to turn on at least one device needed to watch TV, for example, I am not sure if a person couldn't manually turn on all the devices with their individual remotes more quickly.
Despite this slowness and erratic performance, I would concede the Harmony 900 did function as a universal remote, although for $300, I expected much quicker, flexible performance.
More recently, though, I've tried to update the unit and enable it to control an Apple TV device. The unit no longer syncs with my computer and hasn't since 2011.
The troubleshooting support doesn't even indicate the device supports or recognizes the Windows 7 operating system I'm using and the most recent update for the Harmony 900 software was in September 2010, indicating to me Logitech abandoned this product, and its hapless owners, years ago.
Based on my experience, I'd certainly never buy this product and I'd look far and wide before purchasing any Logitech device in the future.
