Product Description

American Aimee Kennedy doesn’t think she needs anyone … until she’s stuck with sexy banker, Simon Ruleford, in his London home.

Stranded in London with no money and no airline ticket, Aimee applies to be Simon’s housekeeper. Without the job, she’ll end up homeless in a foreign country. But Simon can’t hire the adorable American without a work permit, because he would risk losing the royal family’s business, costing years of planning and hard work. Unfortunately for Simon, fate conspires to trap Aimee in his home, while mutual blackmail and a lovable Scottie puppy keep them together. As they fight their growing attraction, Aimee’s money-making plans soon force Simon into one compromising position after another.

Ultimately, they realize they belong together. But will Simon be willing to risk his career and the family business for her? And if he does, will Aimee finally be ready to open her heart to love?

Emma Carr writes modern romance with a little bit of fun mixed in.

1.0 out of 5 stars run away...and never look back April 11 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I bought this book on my kindle for 3$ after skimming the reviews. I should have read more closely. I feel really bad ragging on this book, because its the authors' first, but omg..its truly terrible. I grew up with a british family and have never heard any of them use "bugger and blast" or say bugger and crikey as much as these characters. I was sceptical when I read the description, because I didn't want this to turn into some weird 50 shades of grey type book (which I refuse to read, because the female character sounds pathetic). It didn't quite turn out that way, thank god. It is a weird concept though. American Aimee Kennedy wins a trip to London and gets her flight voucher and money stolen. (rats!) Somehow she makes it to Simon's posh house in London, and begs him to hire her as a housekeeper. This would be believable except for Aimee's attitude. Attitude isn't even the right word...she's crazy. And SO socially awkward/incompetent that its amazing she isn't institutionalized. But if you were hoping for some dashing, eloquent British prince to come in and smarten her're out of luck. Simon is also socially incompetent and talks to Aimee (rightly so) like she's a nut job. I could not believe how ridiculous they were. Aimee's anger at Simon's refusal to hire her is absolutely ridiculous (you will want tear your hair out during her tantrums). She's a wacko in pj's with no work visa, and he's running a bank. So irrational. But he finds it sexy! How shocking. I also could not believe how repetitive this book was. Simon's description of Aimee never went past "feisty, hard working and amazing", yet he said it 20067 times. Read more ›

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome read! Aug. 18 2011

I downloaded this other day and read it the same day. It was brilliant! I love all chick lit and can be discriminating in what I read and don't read (Wendy Wax, here's looking at you), and this is one author whose next book I can't wait to read. From the descriptions of London and the characters, to the witty banter between the characters, I felt like I knew them and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. It was really entertaining and made me want to move to London! Bravo Emma!

I really enjoyed this book! Once I started reading it, I didn't want to stop! In fact, I found myself excited to get to the end to see what happened, but sad to get to the end because I knew I'd miss the characters! And I do...I miss ALL of the characters! Can't wait to see what's next from this author! I love her style of writing... She's funny and creative! I'll definitely read this one again!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Emma Carr! Aug. 26 2011

Once I started reading I could not put it down. The description of London makes you feel like you are there with Aimee. The different predicaments she gets herself into are hysterical and it made me laugh out loud. The chemistry between Aimee and Simon is wonderful and you truly hope that they get together. This is one book I will read over and over again. I can't wait for Emma's next book. It's sure to be just as good as London Falling!

It was a cute read and great for in-between serious books. It was a little hard to believe for me, but still interesting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it at first... May 26 2012

Enjoyed the setting and characters but soon the plot seemed to stall. American stranded in London tries to make money for a ticket home. Falls in love. Dog involved just as a cute factor. Obvious first novel. Light with a nice finish.
