5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Jun 27 2011
By R. Choi - Published on Amazon.com

Was so much more than I expected. We hit La Fortuna and Monteverde and it contains all the information you need and then some. I would recommend traveling with a rental car and getting a GPS - in the GPS we had, most if not all of the points of interest we wanted to hit were also in the GPS making our travels very easy.
Contains lots of very useful information in addition to sites, places to sleep and restaurants and came very handy! Thank you!

2.0 out of 5 stars Little Info, All Free Elsewhere Feb 27 2012
By Jason H. Gold - Published on Amazon.com

This book has nice pretty pictures next to information that any web site or tourism office could provide; names of tour companies, hotels and the few big restaurants. Twenty years ago I bought Lonely Planet guides (it was my bible for a summer trip through Mexico) for its arcane info like the name of a little taco shop off of a main strip where you could get an incredible fish taco with home-made salsa. I recommend people save their money and just ask any local Costa Rican tour guide for brochures & you'll probably have more information than this book provides.

2.0 out of 5 stars Outdated Mar 13 2012
By SM - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for our first trip to Costa Rica and learned that this edition is very outdated. After contacting the people we were staying with on the Nicoya Peninsula, and letting them know we've been reading up for our trip, they asked what book we were using - and I told them about this book. They asked what the cover looked like, I said it had a green frog on it, and they said that it is almost identical to the one they bought 9 years ago when they moved to CR.
I immediately put down the book.
I found TripAdvisor and random blogs more helpful - don't waste your money on this edition. I don't know about the others, but this one did not provide much info about where we were and there are TONS of new resorts/restaurants that SHOULD have been listed in this book. It listed some great places...but could use more. Bummer. Had a blast, regardless.
