Beautiful Guide Dec 28 2010
By Yi-Ching Hsieh - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Just got back from a five day trip to Kauai and used this book extensively. Before the trip, I would have rated it five stars. It's beautifully laid out with gorgeous full color pictures. Just reading the book before the trip almost made me feel like I was already there! It's very well organized. Unlike Kauai Revealed, it groups all the dining, attractions, and lodging options by geographical location. That's always made more sense to me. So when you're taking a trip to say, Princeville, you can stay in one section of the book rather than flipping back and forth. I also like their Suggested Itineraries. We didn't necessarily follow any one specific itinerary, but it helped to narrow down the important places to go.

Now that I've gotten back, I am downgrading the book to four stars. In particular, we weren't crazy about the restaurant recommendations. We drove all the way to one place only to find that it has been closed for over two years. Considering the book was published last year, that information should have been in there. Also, we tried many of their "special picks" for restaurant recommendations and our family found them to be nothing special. No, we are not food snobs, but it got to the point where we just didn't trust the guide to tell us where to eat.

Another Excellent Lonely Planet Book March 6 2010
By PattyT - Published on Amazon.com

We have used Lonely Planet Guides for years; and the Kauai Guide lives up to their excellent reputation. The information was accurate and relevant. The maps are not as user friendly as the Ultimate Kauai Guide The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed but the information was better organized. We brought both books and bounced back and forth between them. We are adventurous and eco-conscious travelers and Lonely Planet better suited our needs on Kauai.

Excellent Kauai guide book June 9 2007
By Michael J. Pratt - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I'm just back from my first (and not my last) trip to Kauai. I bought 7 Kauai travel guide books to plan my trip (yes, I was overly excited). Of the 7, this and one other were head and shoulders above the rest. I strongly recommend it.

Better, safer than 'blue' book Jan. 29 2010
By wanderlust - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
While visiting Kauai two visitors drowned -- I was grateful to have the LP guidebook instead of the blue book because it told us of the safer, off the beaten track places to go. Being there with my family, I was happy to know where not to trespass, which falls not to jump and where the true gems of the island are! Kudos and thanks, Lonely Planet!

Good Guidebook - Accurate Reviews Oct. 9 2010
By Zarea - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This guidebook was very helpful for our recent trip to Kauai. The restaurant and shopping reviews were very accurate. I also really like that they have recommended itineraries for each part of the island.
