4.0 out of 5 stars Don't go to Rajasthan without it! Dec 4 2010
Format:Paperback
I recently returned from a trip to India's "Golden Triangle" (Delhi, Jaipur, Agra) and this book was an excellent source of information about these three places (and places in between), including getting there and getting around.
If the focus of your India trip is Rajasthan, Agra, and Delhi, this book may be a better choice for you than the encyclopedic "India" Lonely Planet guide (or other generalized India guide books).
This edition was released in 2008 so already the information is getting a little dated in fast-paced India, but I still highly recommend this guidebook to anyone heading to Rajasthan and surrounding area!

I bought this guide because I was going to Delhi and Agra for 4 days. I found that the book mostly centered on Rajasthan and even in the pages about Delhi and Agra, there were a lot of references to Rajasthan. If I were to google websites in New Delhi and Agra, I would have gotten 10 times more information from the first webpage in the search engine than I did in this book. That being said, the guide is pretty big and a huge chunk of it is on Rajasthan. If you are going to all three places, I would imagine that the book will be useful. If you are only going to Delhi and Agra, just print some info from the Internet.

Also, the Index was HORRIBLE. A lot of sites in Delhi and Agra go by Indian, English and Nicknames. The book uses one name in one part of the book, then uses a different name in another part of the book and the index many times didn't even have the place at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars very useful Oct 22 2003
Format:Paperback
nother reliable guide by the folks at Lonely Planet.
The Delhi guide provides a good introduction to Delhi with a good review of history and culture.
It covers all the key highlights in the Delhi area and the places to stay and eat have good recommendations. However the restaurant, shopping and entertainment listings are a bit out of date now. It is impossible to keep listings accurate in a place as chaotic as India, where many of the best places to eat are roadside stalls. The excursions section focuses mostly on Agra and Jaipur. For someone who wants to travel around using Delhi as a base, the LP North India guidebook may be more useful as it has most of the Delhi information but includes more comprehensive material on Rajasthan and the Indian Himalayan areas. The maps are good but lack detail because most maps only show the main roads while often many interesting places are found in alleyways and small lanes. This guide ( like the LP series) is budgert minded which is a good thing but many of Delhi's better restaurants and entertainment are in the upscale hotels.
Very useful to the independent traveler who wants to spend some time in Delhi ( on a budget)
