Kitti writes with a meditative/reflective style, which has a strong message of discovery throughout. From her introduction through to the conclusion, I felt her writers arm around my shoulders, leading me to the scripture-based place of security and peace she had found as a mom of prodigals. Using mainly simple and direct sentence structure, Kitti gives great personal insights through word pictures and imagery. The recounting of her past experiences and challenges, written with respect to her sons feelings, were intriguing and enhanced the theme.

As a reader, there was never a time when I sensed Kitti speaking out of a place of having all the answers, rather she freely shared her weaknesses and failings in the shadow of Gods strength and wisdom.

I will definitely read anything else written by this author.

I have read this wonderful book once, held on to every word, passed it on to another hurting parent, and am buying my second copy to soak in again. Kitti Murray's book is inspired and truly brings comfort and hope to parents whose kids are wandering.

So often we bombard ouselves with the question: "Where did I go wrong?" We see the question in the eyes of others, even our friends. Kitti Murray's book, A Long Way Off, does not ask the question, nor does it attempt to answer it. Instead, this is a book of healing and love. It helps us learn that there are other parents out there hurting the same way we are.
Read the book for the hope but also read it for the beautiful writing style. Sometimes Murray's expressive, poetic writing is healing enough for the moment.
