Ori Release '06. Second album by the Canadian singer songwriter 11 trax.

Writing teachers all over the world tend to reinforce the same philosophy: Write what you know. Canadian Idol 3 runner-up Rex Goudie has done exactly that. On his sophomore release, Look Closer, the former Newfoundland boy has written and chosen to cover songs that oscillate between the same two themes: love and loss. Classic rock continues to dominate his style, but soap-star angst has been the key to his chart success to date. Goudie's soft centre and emotional delivery allows teenage girls everywhere yet another opportunity to swoon over his sensitivity. Look Closer's first single "You Got to Me" (penned by Chantal Kreviazuk and hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace) is surprisingly less compelling than one would expect, given the Canadian couple's songwriting skills. "Hollow" is the one traditional rocker that works more than any other, with Goudie's gritty voice exploding into a powerful chorus. The highest points of the album are two considerably different tracks than the formulaic rest. "Like I Was Dying," featuring fellow East-Coaster Damhnait Doyle, shows his prowess amid a country-affected melody, while the charming Kris Kristofferson-esque closer "Ain't Dead Yet" (written by Rex) makes the truth crystal clear: Goudie's recent chart success may be due to his teenage audience, but his long-term calling lies in traditional country, where the singer-songwriter really shines. --Denise Sheppard

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect! Feb. 2 2007
Format:Audio CD
What a perfect follow-up album for Rex to release. It's wonderful. The choice of material, the production style, and the songs penned by Rex himself all mesh into a much closer look into the musical intelligence of Mr. Goudie. He knows his style, he knows himself, and he delivers a perfectly blended selection of material thoughtfully and skilfully. Very, very impressive album!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rex Goudie Is An Inspiration Dec 14 2006
Format:Audio CD
Rex Goudie is an inspiration to every Singer/songwriter/musician and what they should aim for in Acomplishing a Top Of The Charts Album.

One with think he is beyond his actual age with the way he has grown as a musician from last year to now.

Although Under The Lights was Fantastic in so many ways, Rex has expanded his wings, embraced his heart with his Sophomore Album "Look Closer"

Rex writes and protrays his feelings of life experiences through his music which is obvious in his Soal bearing lyrics. The depth, heartfelt lyrics and vocals that if you dare to listen closely would toach your Soal with meaning.

Its unigue how Rex can switch modes with his music style.

From Rockout Singles to a Serile like Contry Mode its an "Amazing" Album.

Rex being true to himself is "One Good Reason" I see a great sucess with "Look Closer".

One of his songs titled "One good reason" should have been followed by "why I should have won Canadian Idol" Actually, I can think of several good reasons. That's all I really need to say about Rex's second album. Way to go Rex! You really did "the rock" proud.
Jason Greeley, and Craig Sharpe could definitely learn a thing or two from you. They are laughable by comparison.
