Book Description

March 20 2007 No-Needle Knits
Knitting looms are flying off the shelves in craft stores because loom-knitting is such an easy craft to take up—it can be learned by both children and adults alike in just a few hours. If you have fond memories of spool knitting (a round wooden spool with a central hole surrounded by four small nails) when you were a child then you know how easy it was to create yards and yards of knitted tubes. Today‘s loom are just as easy and fun to use!

Widely available in craft stores, looms come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some are circular, others rectangular, some tiny and some large. The size of the loom dictates the size of the knitted piece although you can easily join smaller panels together to make larger items.

This book is designed as a hands on project resource as well as an essential reference for the growing band of loom knitters.  Clear step by step illustrations throughout show how to cast-on, bind-off and knit a wide range of stitches on both round looms and knitting boards.  Practice projects are provided for each technique, and there are more then 30 attractive patterns to get the crafter started.
-         the first book to provide patterns for an increasingly popular tool
-         comprehensive techniques and information provide the essential back-up manual to supplement the minimal instructions that come with the looms
-         over 30 quick and easy patterns for sweaters and accessories
-         written by an expert in the field

4.0 out of 5 stars Great to get the basics Jan. 5 2009
By Andree-anne Mercier TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This is a wonderful book. I own Knifty Knitters, and I cannot do all the projects in the book with them (some require finer gauge looms, that was a bit of a disappointment), but the step-by-step instructions to learn stitches and practice them are great. The child's mock cable hat is HOT and can be adapted easily to fit adults on the largest KK loom (even better looking when knit as a beanie hat!).

Most patterns are very simple, rather uninteresting, but there are great socks, leg warmers, a baby sweater, a kid poncho, a 'ruana' (sweater/shawl for adults!), and even a felted yoga bag, handbag, laptop cozy and slippers that you can make with circle or long KK looms.

Perfect book to start using your looms, and is a great creativity kick start if you want to make you own patterns!

5.0 out of 5 stars CAUTION when buying Isela's other book April 20 2009
Format:Paperback
I purchased both of Isela's books LOOM KNITTING PRIMER and KNITTING ON A LOOM at the same time (recommended on Amazon). Be aware the covers of the books are different but THESE TWO BOOKS ARE IDENTICAL ON THE INSIDE - PAGE FOR PAGE. (One published in 2007 and the other in 2008 - the only thing different on the inside.) So buy only one and enjoy. She is an excellent teacher - very clear and concise.
