Loops of fury is a great four song collection of the chemical brothers. It really shows how well the band can write music. It really helped me to become a fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Repetitive, Short, and unimaginitive., Jan 2 2002

I'm not sure why people were willing to pay for a CD with 4 songs on it (20 minutes). It was clearly an oversight on my part.

I was looking for some more Big Beat (i've been listening to a lot of it lately, say, Propellerheads, Leftfield, Lunatic Calm, Hexstatic, and Apollo440), and Amazon's editors said that this was a good choice.

Well, I'm sorry to inform you, people with a good amount of listening experience will write this off as repetitive cookie-cutter "electronica." It has no soul, no beat, does not move me (nor will it move you).

I'm frankly baffled that people have given this record 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars First Chemicals CD I bought, Aug 31 2001

I bought this when the only true "electronic" music I owned was by The Orb. I had heard of the Chemical Brothers, but didn't know enough about them to want a whole CD. This E.P. was perfect. And as soon as I heard it, I knew I had to have more.

Unlike a lot of Chemical Brothers singles (and other artists as well) this was not a collection of remixes of the same song, but a true E.P. with 4 different songs. So I figured that I would be getting a good sample of what they were about. True, "Chemical Beats" was a remix of the original "Exit Planet Dust" version, but it wasn't repeated on the same CD and I didn't even own the original at the time. The title track, "Loops of Fury", is simply huge. It makes you want to turn it way up, and once you've done that, it makes you wish you were hearing it cranked all the way up inside a club. It just sounds big.

Along with those epic early Orb albums, and a Wax Trax Records sampler that contained Underworld's "Dirty Epic", this started my love of (modern) dance music. Highly recommended to those wanting to try something a little different from the current version of "Alternative Rock" but who have no need for Top 40 radio.
