Disputes Galore, No Peace For George Lopez!, April 22 2008

George Lopez is a factory worker in a Plane parts factory in LA who has just been promoted to management. His Cuban wife Angie{played by the stunning Constance Marie}, is the good Samaritan & matriarchal "know it all." His father in-law Victor Palmero{played perfectly by Emiliano Diez}, is the Cardiologist who can't accept that his upper-middle class daughter married a blue-collar man. The kids are hyperemotional Carmen{Masiela Lusha}, & dyslexic Max{Luis Armand Garcia}. George's best friend & co-worker is the sweet, insecure, loveless, Ernesto Cardenas{Valente Rodriguez} Now for the other main character, one truly can't describe George's verbally cruel mom Benita Lopez-Benny{played brilliantly by Belita Moreno}. She is a cross between Godzilla & Roseanne{Roseanne Barr}, without the softness. She works with George, chain smokes, & drinks.This is a blue-collar Hispanic version of the "Cosby Show" with more laughs. In this show a solution given to a problem at the end of one episode often creates new plots while maintaining the basic themes. You have an array of multiple disputes. Cuban vs. Mexican, white-collar vs. blue-collar, dominant wife{George, end of discussion!} vs. cynical husband{George loses 99% of the time}, daughter vs. son, parents vs. kids, George vs. Victor, & everyone vs. BENNY! Typically, episodes that involve her are the most hilarious. She can walk into a room{George move your big Pumpkin head out of the way, your blocking the TV!}, offend everyone in 30 seconds, & then leave for a "smoke & a beer." George's wounds from his fatherless childhood & neglectful mother are at the heart of the show as he & Benny rehash every battle as they draw all into their mini Armageddons. The first two seasons were not the best, but this show got better every season. Lastly, Sandra Bullock deserves credit for getting this show on TV.

I cannot tell you how much I love this show. It's so funny and under-rated. George's humour is so dry and quick and he pulls it off amazingly. I love the banter between him and his mother, and how he talks about his kids to his wife.It's about time that this finally came to dvd. I cannot wait to get my hands on it because I want to see it all again from the beginning. Here in Australia we only get to see it during the early hours of the morning (I guess our networks don't know a good thing when they see it), so I'm also hoping to catch up on the episodes I might have missed, or they cut out of it.
For 8 episodes, one of the executive producers was Sandra Bullock and she's responsible for this fantastic show getting off the ground. Do yourself a favour and pick this up when it's released. It's so funny and enjoyable, you're bound to love it as much as I do.

The George Lopez show is twenty first century family entertainment at its best. He is the Captain of the house, as long as you do not tell his Cubain born wife Angie. His kids respect him-NOT and his mother Benny...well lets say, she wont win mother of the year anytime soonLopez is part in the vein of Desi Arnaz and Part in the vein of Chico (Freddie Prinze SR) of Chico & the Man. He is also the first comic to survive in TV as a latino, since Chico and the man. The humor is dry and rapid. Not just one liners, but heartfelt barbs of family life. Think Roseanne with more heart and better humor
One of my two favorite episodes is George not wanting to celebrate his birthday and his son Max following suit. The end of the episode (SPOILER)is George spending time with his childhood hero. I wont say who that
is, that would be a real spoiler. However the last 5 minutes (HINT) will be well KROFTED (note not mispelled) for the kid in all of us.
the second of my two episodes involves accident Amy (played by executive producer Sandra Bullock). She seems to have so much fun pratfalling and ending up in mishap after mishap, while George tries for a 30 day accident free shop.
So if you want family fun with a target on fun. This hits the bullseye on all accounts
