HASH(0x9d3e0ec4) out of 5 stars Not just a book about losing weight! Oct. 19 2009
By M. Mckenna - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book is a comprehensive book about healing. The result is weight loss but that's not the goal. The goal is healing the pain that is causing the overeating, which is eveidence that the pain exists.
The concepts and healing process that invites God into the process reminds me of another book called "The Search for Significance." The appraoch is similar and there are practical tools that you can incorporate into your time with God that can help root out the lies that you might be believing about yourself, about God and about how to live that do not line up with the word of God.
A great read for anyone dealing with any kind of compulsion who is seeking healing.

HASH(0x9d3f030c) out of 5 stars Dee Lundgren, counselor in Langhorne, PA Jan. 8 2011
By dee lundgren - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is a must read if you have struggled unsuccessfully with weight issues. I know I have and this book can help you to change the way you think about weight loss. Arterburn teaches that dieting does not work but that making changes that a person can do for a life time is the way to go. This is not a dieting book but a book that deals with the issues that are fueling your struggle with weight. Most of my overeating has been from emotional eating. As I dealt with my emotions in a healthy way I was able to begin to lose weight and not only that but keep it off. I would highly recommend this book especially if you have been discouraged by yo-yo dieting.

HASH(0x9d3f0360) out of 5 stars The ultimate advice May 2 2009
By Carole L. Mccarthy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is absolutely the best book I've ever read regarding weight loss. Steve hits home with the reasons why you over eat and teaches you how to tackle them and win. Not finished reading it yet, it's one of those books I may have to read 2 or 3 times, so I don't forget anything. It will truly be a reference book in my library. Thank you, Carole

HASH(0x9d3f06a8) out of 5 stars Los it for life - The total solution May 2 2012
By JeannieBeanie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I am still going through the book. There is a lot to read and think for each chapter. A lot of thought has to be given before I can continue reading it. It is very good book. I have never thought that losing weight involves my spiritual life. It makes me consider what the Bible says about being obese.

HASH(0x9d3f0624) out of 5 stars Lose It For Life as changed my life! Nov. 2 2012
By Jennifer Romero - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book has completely changed my life! I've failed after a period of time on every diet I have ever been on. This time I surrendered my dieting and weight over to God and its working! This book helps you understand the reasons you may be overheating, binging, or grazing. They help you get to the root of why you do these things. Your learn to recognize true hunger instead of emotional hunger. I would recommend this book to anyone who is or has ever struggled with their weight!
