Album Description

Corb lund is a canadian musician/cowboy/3rd generation albertan rancher who has crafted an exhilarating style of western music. His new album losin lately gambler is propelled by a galloping stand-up bass, steel guitar and is set to corb's jack london-esque yarns about down-and-out cowboys, whiskey and ranching. The sound is tough to categorize but the mix of roughnecks, bikers, bankers, and ranch hands you ll see drinking and standing shoulder to shoulder at one of his concerts will all agree, corb lund is authentic. Lund was born and raised in rural southern alberta. He has been singing about his country upbringing for more than a decade on critically acclaimed albums such as five dollar bill (2002) and hair in my eyes like a highland steer (2005).

4.0 out of 5 stars Losin Lately Gambler, Dec 4 2009

I think this is Corb's strongest CD yet; all the songs stand on their own. Previous CD's have had three or four decent songs and then some "filler material", but this CD shows his maturity as a songwriter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth a listen, Oct 23 2009

Losin' Lately Gambler is fun album that is easy to enjoy. Staying true to his western Canadian roots, this album features familiar themes, story telling lyrics, & splash of comedy, that will succeed in keep Lund fans coming back. The concert DVD that comes with the LTD edition is well worth the few extra bucks. Filmed @ Rexal Place in Edmonton during the Horse Soldier Tour, it features many Corb Lund favourites, interview clips, and a large excited crowd. I would recommend this album to anyone with an interest in Canadian music.

Yes, I know that is bad grammar! This album is everything I hoped it would be and more. Every cut is a keeper, from the melancholy strains of "Chinook" to the robust sarcasm of "Long Gone to Saskatchewan." I'd list all my favorite cuts on the CD, but you can find them on the play list! Best part of all, there is an insert with all the lyrics so if just for once, you can't quite catch a word you can read along (if you are a word listener and not just a bass guitar/fiddle listener). Only sad thing about getting this album is wondering how long until the next.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Betcha!!!, Oct 12 2009

As good as it gets. At long last the US is finding out what Canada and a big part of the world has known for years. Don't try to put a label on his music. You can't. To me this is his best work but I have to say everything he does as a singer-songwriter is excellent. His band is also kick butt. OK, I'd say it's some kind of country that you'll be glad you have in your player and leave it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tired of pop in your country? Try Corb Lund!, Sep 30 2009

Listening to Corb Lund's songs, you can tell that he's been there and done that. A great mix of story telling, creative lyrics and plain good music. Like his other albums, this one is full of songs that anyone who's lived in the country or would like to will enjoy.
