Product Description

U.S. only deluxe vinyl LP edition includes a bonus seven-inch single plus a download code for the entire album. Lost Channels is the fourth album by the masters of `Ambient Zen Americana', Great Lake Swimmers. Often compared to the likes of Nick Drake, Iron and Wine, Red House Painters and `After the Gold Rush'-era Neil Young, the new album by Tony Dekker and Co. nods occasionally in the more commercial direction of R.E.M. while simultaneously continuing to deliver the 'starkly evocative and melodically melancholic' (Paste magazine) brand of Folk Rock for which his band are renowned. Sony. 2010.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic new step. April 9 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Great Lake Swimmers takes on a more fluid departure in their fourth CD. Whereas Ongiara sounded like an echo reverberating into all parts of the soul, Lost Channels sounds like music you can turn up a bit louder on your stereo system. It's not something that's meant to be played quietly by yourself on an introspective adventure only. It's a journey meant to be shared, and thus its sound is a little bit more appealing for the masses in my opinion. It still is a great album, but it doesn't leave you as fragile as listening to Ongiara.

All in all, another great leap forward for Great Lake Swimmers. Can't wait to listen to their next album!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Lakes Swmmers Virgin July 5 2009
Format:Audio CD
I read a review in the local newspaper about this album and so purchased it. I love the eerie, haunting sounds and harmonies. A virgin no longer I bought a second, and then third disc. What can I say? Lovely music.

The first Great Lake Swimmers album was so wonderful, it seemed they'd never match or top it, but this latest CD finally has gone beyond that great record.
