Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

Madness were at the forefront of the early-1980s UK ska explosion, injecting the music with pop hooks and their own cheeky humour. The Lot collects their six albums in one convenient, 77-track package and features all the classic tracks--"One Step Beyond", "Baggy Trousers", "Prince", "Night Boat To Cairo", "Our House"--performed with customary zeal by Suggs and the boys. Remastered and beautifully packaged, with a 36-page booklet and all 24 original videos on CD-ROM, as well as the familiar battered Doc Martens on the cover, The Lot is the ideal collection for all two-tone fanatics. --Ted Kord

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect, Dec 9 2003
By
This review is from: Lot (Audio CD)
There are a ton of Madness collections out there. This one is definitely the most complete one I've ever seen. My only complaint: Where's Crying Shame. This B-side is one of my favorites, and unfortunately it's still unavailable anywhere on CD.

That aside, it's a perfect collection from one of the best bands of it's time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Album Material Often Overlooked, May 7 2002
By
Brian Frazier (Manchester, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lot (Audio CD)
In this collection of the first six 'original' Madness albums, you get a lot of material heretofore missing from American releases. The tracks from "Rise and Fall" and "Seven" are worth the full price of the box set alone. A lot of these tracks have often been hard to track down in the US (especially the RaF material) and are greatly improved on with remastering. While Madness is often viewed as a simple cog in the Ska-revival wheel, the tracks on discs 3-6 prove that they were quality songwriters in their own right and even the overproduced, far too depressing "Mad Not Mad" tracks turn out to be good material on a 5th or 6th listen. Combine this with "The Business" CD set and you have all the Madness your heart could desire.
