This text aids the reader in understanding the theories Owens articulated and how he followed those theories in his own writing. Also included is the last interview Owens gave, appearing in print for the first time, which provides insights into this complex man’s personal life.

About the Author

Jacquelyn Kilpatrick, of Choctaw, Cherokee, and Irish descent, is Professor of English and Founding Faculty member at California State University, Channel Islands. She is the author of Celluloid Indians: Native Americans and Film.
