5.0 out of 5 stars Classic soul!, April 11 2004
By
P.J. Le Faucheur (Canada (ex- U.K. resident)) - See all my reviews
What a voice this man had!! He surely must've influenced alot of other people(apart from Elvis)because his sound is so reminiscent of singers like Donny Hathaway etc..and his harmonica playing is full of gutbucket blues. It's such a shame Junior died so young (during a brain operation I believe)back in the early 1970s.
Every track is great on this album. His version of The Beatles "Taxman" is truly amazing and his vocals on the ballad " Darling, You can depend on me" stands on par with anything by Sam Cooke or Otis Redding.
"Outside Man" is also another standout track which is really funky!!
Artists like this only come around once! Buy this c.d...you won't be dissapointed. I had alot of problems finding these classic trax, so get this one while its still available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Funky 70s Blues, Sep 24 2003

This review is from: Love Ain't Nothin But a Business Goin on (Audio CD)
The Super Furry Animals were acting as guest DJs on KCRW and they played "Tomorrow Never Knows" from this album. It was so haunting I went out and found the album. Super cool 70's vibe. "The Outside Man" track is sampled by De La Soul on their "Stakes is High" album.

Creative & heartfelt music with a stylin album cover.
