I Love Lucy and other Great Rarities-what a gem and must have,
By
This review is from: I Love Lucy Movie: and Other G (DVD)
If you were like me and bought the series individually(season to season)either by choice,or because you were forced to due to the terrible packaging of the complete set(see my review on that),then this disc is the one thing missing from your collection.CBS,like their style in the season sets, have gone the extra mile to make this disc as enjoyable as those. There are extras galore, but before I get to those, let us look at the title product.I Love Lucy the movie, which was made in the early 50s,but not released because of a possible conflict with their first MGM flick, the Long,Long Trailer. It is true this movie was made by piecing together three I Love Lucy eps,but there were newly filmed beginning, ending and bridging sequences. Also the film starts as we look in on a couple who has tickets for and enters the Desilu studios to see the show.Desi comes out and explains the filming process to the audience(we see the studio set up with all the cameras and technicians and the band).Vivian,Bill and Lucy are then introduced, with Desi mentioning in his intro that she is VP of Desilu studios, with him being the prez!.The movie is more like an inside look at how the show was made;fascinating to watch now as it is quite a time capsule. I said CBS went the extra mile and I meant it.Along with the movie is a kinescope of the Ed Wynn Show showing Desi and Lucy`s first joint appearance on TV and talking about how they loved their close friend Buster Keaton`s appearance on his show, the commercials from the first I Love Lucy show, which was a Phillip Morris cigarette commercial,Lucy and Vivian getting their Emmy`s for their work on I Love Lucy at the 6th annual award show, and a colourized version of their 1956 show Lucy goes to Scotland.A long time opponent of colourization,I must say the process has greatly improved since its debut in the 80s. All in all this is a must have for all I Love Lucy fans.CBS has done a great job in its presentation as it has with its entire Lucy collection. You won`t be disappointed.

This review is from: I Love Lucy Movie: and Other G (DVD)
I Love Lucy The Movie was a huge disappointment.I felt like I a April Fool's joke was pulled on me, I thought I was getting something I never seen before. Not True! This is four episodes of I Love Lucy you would have if you collected the series. Three are together to make a movie, the colour picture on the cover of the DVD is in Black & White. There is one I Love Lucy episode that has been colourized. I am a huge Lucy fan I have collected everything that has come out on DVD, so for me to say save your money and don't buy this is a big thing!

I Love Lucy The Movie DVD,
This review is from: I Love Lucy Movie: and Other G (DVD)
This dvd is a great find for all Lucy & Desi lovers !!!!! There is a great amount of material to see, some stuff has never been shown before !! The footage of them as themselves was great to see. The episodes are all early ones, before Little Ricky was born. I laughed until my stomach hurt !!! This is the kind of dvd you keep for years & just watch & enjoy every time you put it in the machine.
