Review

"This book is a masterpiece! Her fabulous writing style makes it a true joy to read for creative ideas, and its use as a reference should continue for many years." --Holly H. Shimizu, former host of The Victory Garden

"As gifted a writer as she is a gardener, Lovejoy is always a pleasure to read, and her lyric prose is at the heart of this inspired and inspiring volume...Readers may find themselves as charmed by her singular turns of phrase as they are by her horticultural wisdom."-Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

"In this powerhouse of a book, Ann Lovejoy, the prolific queen of American garden writing, tackles the toughest subject-designing one's garden. She puts the effortless flow of her beautiful prose along with her characteristic humor and intelligence to work on intense concepts, such as organic gardening and layering. The result is a superb clarification of the mysteries of garden design."--Lauren Springer, author of The Undaunted Garden
