I am not going to waste my time repeating what the story is about, but I will say that I stumbled onto the BDB series by accident. I have been a major fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, and thought I would give Ward's BDB a try.
Ward's BDB is just as addictive as Kenyon's DH, with just as much intensity and complexity, providing the reader a glimpse into the amazing world that both readers have created, with characters that are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but nevertheless easy to love.
I was just about to read Ward's latest, Lover Unbound, when I read the comments on Amazon.com's site. I was quite alarmed by the number of really negative comments of the book. Could the quality from be so drastic from the first four books? There were come really nasty comments, so I started to read LU with great caution.
Well, I have to say after finishing the book, I am happy to say, for me, the book was very satisfying and the negative comments were unfounded. The story stayed true to Ward's BDB, and perhaps the ending is not what you might expect (or want), it was not as horrible as some of the reviewers alluded to. The story was further developed in the area of the Scribe Virgin and her world.
The reason I give it four stars and not five is because I wished Ward had given Vishous and Jane more time, Lessening Society and Omega.
Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing how Ward develops the BDB - Phury, John Matthew, Qhinn, Blay, and perhaps another meeting with Manny.
Happy reading!
