Book Description

Dec 1 1986
You'll have to learn to speak, to dress, to conduct yourself as a lady". Sebastian, the Earl of Moorland, icily intoned his orders to the cockney commoner who eyed him defiantly.

Fate had brought the saucy Jewel Combs far from her shivering, dockside existence to the mansion on Grosvenor Square. Now she was about to be renamed "Julia Stratham", in the Earl's outlandish stand against his domineering mother. His plan: to transform this diamond in the rough into a glittering gem worthy of the family name. But even as Jewel is swept up in all there is to know -- and the critical gaze of her handsome patron -- she unknowingly imparts a few lessons of her own. The Earl of Moorland is about to learn that although his "Julia" is no lady, she is all woman...and one with whom he can't resist falling madly, unexpectedly, and passionately in love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Romantic, Surprising! Feb 29 2004
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a terrific book by Karen Robards. I've read some of her others, but I must say that this and the Dark of the Moon are the best books by her. This story is very romantic and the ending will leave you in suspense! This book will not disappoint!

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read Feb 15 2004

Format:Mass Market Paperback
This was my first romance by Karen Robards and I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the transformation from "Jewel" to "Julia", the secondary characters added much to the story line, and all in all - it was a believable story that will have one laughing, crying, and rooting for Julia up until the very end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MOST DEFINITE ***10*** Jan 22 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I fell in love with Jewel..she was such an "innocent".
I have read all of KR's books and this is my all time favorite of all her books, in fact my favorite book period. As Johanna Lindsey says, she doesn't have to read the reviews to buy her books.
Whenever she has a new book coming out, I just buy it because I know it is going to be "GREAT". I have yet to be disappointed.
