5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Feb. 17 2014
Format:LP Record|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic album, and I really love that they did an etching on the 4th side instead of stretching the album across all sides of the 2 LPs. I wish more bands would do that! I wish THIS band had done that for ... Like Clockwork. 2 LPs is just too much space for a normal length record.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest albums I've ever heard July 8 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
After Songs for the Deaf, I was absolutely determined to get every disc the band ever put out. When I first bought this album (originally as a digital download), I figured that it would be good but that like any other band, they would fill the gold with some absolute crap. In the end, there is but ONE song on this album that I don't believe is worth 5 stars. Lullabies to Paralyze is a classic album for anyone who loves their rock on the hard side and absolutely needs to be experienced.

5.0 out of 5 stars SMOKE MACHINE NOT INCLUDED! March 28 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Having been a partial Kyuss fan and a f/t Queens fan right from the start I have to say that I did not see this coming at all.
Songs for the Deaf wasnt my ideal listen.
Not that I hate it.
Its just lacks something or maybe its too busy or too showy. Maybe.
So after hearing about Nicks firing I thought uh oh there goes another good band i'll never hear from again.
I bought Lullabies to Paralyze right away so that no review or opnion could sully or sway me from at least expiriencing this disc for myself.
Sadly I did read a bit of Rolling Stones review b4 buying it and having read a Strokes comparison I allmost had a stroke myself.
So I popped this sucker in with my arms folded and my best cynical scowl pasted to my face.
Within minutes I was reduced to a puddle of joy as each song displayed its signature self in full on cloaks of darkness.
The Queens have raised the bar.
Bands like The Strokes and The Hives and ugh gaaad on and on will not EVER possess the natural ebb and flow that is so fluid and alive within this one cd let alone the other past efforts Josh Homme has been involved with.
Lullabies to Paralyze is his testament to everything that is great about true blue rock and roll.
Heres a hint its not a fashion statement boys and girls.
Just because you swing like Jagger and croon like Bowie all the while wearing desighner vintage clothing does not make you a rock star.
SO good luck suckers.
Topping this will be no easy feat indeed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty awesome March 23 2005

This is what you come to expect from QOTSA.
From the first listen, I really liked it.
It's a perfect blend of fast and mellow.
I think that the only thing that's missing when you listen to this record is that Dave Grohl isn't playing drums, and especially on "Everyone Knows That You're Insane" you would really want to hear him. The song still rules in my book though.
As does the album. If you liked Songs For The Deaf, I think you'll have no problem fitting this into your daily listening routine.
Definitely a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Nick, No Problem! March 22 2005
Format:Audio CD
Wow, with Nick Olivieri gone, you would think that some of QOTSA's juices were gone, well they didn't lose a thing. Sure with Nick gone, the yelling and hardcore screaming songs, which are good, ex. Tension Head, wouldn't be on the album, but it doesn't matter. This is QOTSA's most "stoner" rock album yet. This is by far the best album of the year so far, and could be a candidate at the end of 2005. Here is a track by track review:
1.This Lullaby - Nice acoustic and nice vocals 4/5
2.Medication - The answer to Feel Good Hit 4/5
3.Everybody Knows That You're Insane - Wicked song, great chorus 5/5
4.Tangled Up In Plaid - Tied for my fave song, amazing 10/5
5.Burn the Witch - Billy Gibbons on guitar, all good 5/5
6.In My Head - Out of Place on this album 2.5/5
7.Little Sister - Okay, its to pop for me, the first single 3/5
8.I Never Came - Best volcals on album 5/5
9.Someone's In the Wolf - Tied for my fave on the album, an epic 10/5
10.The Blood is Love - A tad long, but very nice 4.5/5
11.Skin On Skin - Wicked song about S.E.X - 5/5
12.Broken Box - Not My favourite, but still good, awesome when guitar kicks in 4/5
13."You Got a Killer..." - Major stoner song, which is good 5/5
14.Long Slow Goodbye - Nice quiet track to end the album 5/5
My favourite songs are Tangled Up In Plaid, Someone's in the Wolf and You Got a Killer Scene. Great album, the DVD is ace as well. Buy it!
