Having been a partial Kyuss fan and a f/t Queens fan right from the start I have to say that I did not see this coming at all.
Songs for the Deaf wasnt my ideal listen.
Not that I hate it.
Its just lacks something or maybe its too busy or too showy. Maybe.
So after hearing about Nicks firing I thought uh oh there goes another good band i'll never hear from again.
I bought Lullabies to Paralyze right away so that no review or opnion could sully or sway me from at least expiriencing this disc for myself.
Sadly I did read a bit of Rolling Stones review b4 buying it and having read a Strokes comparison I allmost had a stroke myself.
So I popped this sucker in with my arms folded and my best cynical scowl pasted to my face.
Within minutes I was reduced to a puddle of joy as each song displayed its signature self in full on cloaks of darkness.
The Queens have raised the bar.
Bands like The Strokes and The Hives and ugh gaaad on and on will not EVER possess the natural ebb and flow that is so fluid and alive within this one cd let alone the other past efforts Josh Homme has been involved with.
Lullabies to Paralyze is his testament to everything that is great about true blue rock and roll.
Heres a hint its not a fashion statement boys and girls.
Just because you swing like Jagger and croon like Bowie all the while wearing desighner vintage clothing does not make you a rock star.
SO good luck suckers.
Topping this will be no easy feat indeed.
HA!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! Feb. 17 2014
Format:LP Record|Verified Purchase
This is a fantastic album, and I really love that they did an etching on the 4th side instead of stretching the album across all sides of the 2 LPs. I wish more bands would do that! I wish THIS band had done that for ... Like Clockwork. 2 LPs is just too much space for a normal length record.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the greatest albums I've ever heard July 8 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
After Songs for the Deaf, I was absolutely determined to get every disc the band ever put out. When I first bought this album (originally as a digital download), I figured that it would be good but that like any other band, they would fill the gold with some absolute crap. In the end, there is but ONE song on this album that I don't believe is worth 5 stars. Lullabies to Paralyze is a classic album for anyone who loves their rock on the hard side and absolutely needs to be experienced.
