29Jan 2012I just finished using this book as a text for a toxicology class. Unless you have a solid background in biology and chemistry, you will be heading to the dictionary quite often (The Free Dictionary by Farlex was invaluable in defining terminology).
The book is full of information, but I took the class as a layman, and Lu writes as if he is communicating with his fellow peers that have doctorates degrees like he does. Nothing wrong with this, but the book is way beyond the "basic" in the title, so be ready with the online dictionary when you read it.
Another thing Lu could have added was more illustrations to make his points clearer. If it has not been for the many resources on the internet, I would have been totally lost using this book alone to get through the class.
