5.0 out of 5 stars Great book overall - highly recommend for passing the exam!, May 6 2004
By
This review is from: MCAD/MCSD Training Guide (70-320): Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Visual C#(TM) .NET and the .NET Framework (Paperback)
Great book! I passed the 70-320 exam this morning and used this book as my only resource. My only complaint is that the book's end of chapter questions and practice exam questions are easier than the actual exam questions; then again, the book's questions test your knowledge of the material while the exam tests more than that (the Microsoft way) . Other than that, the writing style and content are great! The authors do a great job balancing exam objectives, background information, concrete examples and coding exercises. This one is as good if not better Amit's book I used to pass the 70-315 exam. I'll definitely be looking for books written by the Kalanis when studying for future exams. Thanks Amit and Priti!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of the Software Company, May 10 2010
This review is from: MCAD/MCSD Training Guide (70-320): Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Visual C#(TM) .NET and the .NET Framework (Paperback)
I don't doubt that the PrepLogic software might be helpful for some BUT the company is highly untrustworthy to deal with and I wanted to make sure that the caution is out there for anyone who wants to deal with them. Like any criticism this comes from a personal experience and I'm sure that people out there may have had good experiences with them. However, I'm also sure that if they can screw me then they can screw with someone else as well. I bought one of their products on a $99 30-day trial. During the 30 days I sent a message to my sales rep asking to cancel my obligation; well within my original agreement. For whatever reason he did not enter my request and months later they came after me for $1000 after they had already siphoned off $1000 from my credit card (my bad for not checking my statements closer!). I have emails to prove all contact I had with them. After trying to reason with the company I realized that they held all the control in that they could refer my case to a 3rd-party collection agency thereby ruining my credit rating. That is far too much power in the hands of an unethical company. So, just beware of this cautionary tale... it could happen to you! I just have myself to blame for not doing more research about the company before my purchase which is why I decided to write this comment.

4.0 out of 5 stars It helped me pass, but it was poorly written/edited, Jun 24 2004

I passed my exam on the first try, which was my the reason for getting the book. The book covered a lot of stuff that you don't really come across in day to day development that you need to know for the exam. There were a few things on the exam not covered in the book, but overall the book did a good job of covering the material.

My biggest complaint is that there were some mistakes in some of the examples, in particular there were a couple of places where a code snippet had a capital letter where it should have been lowercase.
