Rick James exposes the little deaths that we experience everyday and how these deaths assist us in the correct way to live. "Death is not the ending, it is an invitation to a more abundant life."
A Million Ways to Die is a thick book made up of 7 sections:
Democracy of Death
The Wake of Faith
The Life of Martyrs
The Little Death of Trials
Ode to Courage
Humbled and Mortified
The Passion of Love
Each section is made up of 3 chapters that unpack James' ideas.
You will understand why James believes Jesus was being accurate in telling us to daily pick up our cross and what it means to die a little every day.
Part lecturer and part storyteller, Rick James has written a book that may cause you to rethink your life and death.

James' book "A Million Ways to Die" eloquently states the harsh reality of the Christian life: death is the only way to get to the sweet, beautiful reality of resurrection and new life. Rarely is this idea placed into such concrete, practical terms as it is in James' book! It offers a convincing argument of why living in the tension between life and death, this world and the next, and grace and truth is not only crucial and difficult, but also beautiful and desirable. A must-read!

James' book has really given me a lot to think about. It's put words to some general thoughts I've had but now they have become concrete. This concept of death is pivotal to a dynamic walk with the Lord. This book echoes Bonhoeffer's statement that "when Christ calls a man he bids him come and die." I have found myself thinking daily since I read this book...."this is a chance to die". I am thankful to be able to see this decision more clearly and am recommending this book to friends and students I work with. Thanks Rick!
