I have had this card for a month, with no problems. I forgot how much I love Nvidia. This card is massive, and it rocks. I can run ALL games with it. Metro 2033, has some low frame rates, but its maxed, and still very playable. Make sure you have a large case, because you are going to need it.
I was considering SLI 570s, but I actually spent less on one 580, then two 570s, and it gets the job done. So stop looking, around and buy this. It took me over a month to pull the trigger on this. Now my rig is ready for this gaming season, BF3, Rage, Skyrim, Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 3... Do it already!
If you still are not convinced, check out and toms hardware. Buy the extreme edition only if you game at high resolution (over 1080p) or using multiple monitors. That's all I got.
My specs,
MSI P55-GD85
i7-860 /oc 4ghz
MSI GTX580 Lightning
8Gb Fata1ty ram
Noctura NH-D12
Corsair tx850 pro

Rediculous!! June 3 2011

A beast! You can only really appreciate the craftsmanship of the custom PCB and cooler when you hold it in your hands. Performance wise, it's a beast at overclocking, mine does 1000mhz with very little tweaking all while staying cool at 75C at load. A bit loud, but then again, I'd rather break overclock records than sound records.
Studhorse video card - overclocker's dream GPU Sept. 30 2011

Bought this based on what looked like ground-breaking air-cooling design by MSI - their new "FROZER III" supercooling package. Let me say that so far, on an all air-cooled i7 2600k overclocked to 4.7, this card, overclocked from 770 mhz to 1.0 Ghz runs cool and super-quiet. So much so my old Dell XPS 9000 is notably loud and annoying, whilst this system is near-silent. I read a number of other glowing reviews, and I was somewhat skeptical of this card being "all that" but it is, and more. Highly recommended. Even if yours won't overclock to a full 1.0 Ghz (Using included msi Afterburner OC utility) - you will still be rewarded with the fastest single-processor Fermi card on the market. I hear that a competitor (ASUS) made a dual GTX580 card that they want like $1300 for. That is a BUNCH of money. I feel this card is a good value if you are trying to achieve maximum frame rates. If you are going to do video editing, the high number of CUDA cores will benefit you greatly -if- your editing software is designed to take advantage of CUDA technology. For example, Sony Vegas Pro 11 (soon to be released) is optimized for CUDA - and some parts of DVDFab (the Blue-Ray portion, I think) can use cuda cores to cut rendering time. In my view, this is a must-buy, and if you can handle the extra $100, the 'extreme' edition with 3GB of on-card ram is even more so. Someone else commented on the look and feel of this card- and I have to say it too - it's quality from front to back. The FROZER design works extremely well, and even overclocked, this card never gets hot or noisy. It's handled everything I've thrown at it so far. I love the MSI Afterburner software that comes with their products. If you're new to overclocking, it makes it almost goof-proof. Move a slider, test, and away you go. Increase the core clock and the memory clock increases as well - it's very straight-forward and simple. Good job MSI.
Great graphics card for your PC/workstation Sept. 25 2011

I have used this graphics card in my custom-made Xeon ER-1270 workstation with 8GB RAM and I am very happy with my choice. My monitor is HP ZR24w, 1920x1200 16:10 with 24" size. This card is showing brilliant displays for games and Camtasia Studio although Camtasia is limited in terms of capture resolution. Its 2 fans keep me at peace that card is not hot and the performance of card as per "Passmark" benchmarking software review on the internet site is very good.

If you want even better card in the GTX580 series, check out another card MSI N580GTX Lightning Extreme with 3GB RAM.

Note: Please make sure that to get optimum performance from this card, download and install Windows updates and appropriate latest drivers/software from Nvidia site. I faced choppy frame rates issue in Flight Simulator X and after downloading Windows 7 updates and installing latest drivers from Nvidia site, I am getting very good performance from this card without any noticeable frame rate issues at the display resolution of 1920x1200.

In Saudi Arabia/Riyadh, this card is available from Soft Land in computer market, Olayya street.
After lots of research... I bought this card Oct. 17 2011

I researched all GTX 580s available through Tom's Hardware benchmarks, overclocking forums, and other such places on the internet. This card, for the price will give you the best cooling, out-of-the-box performance, and overclockability per dollar.

I usually purchase all PC electronics through, but Amazon just continues to surprise me with both unbelievable shipping rates and up-front pricing.

If you have the need to run an ifinity (3 monitor) setup or are looking to run this with a 30" monitor, I'd suggest looking into the 3GB GDDR5 version of this card -> MSI N580GTX Lightning Xtreme Edition GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 3072 MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
