Product Description

From Amazon.com

MTV Punk'd: The Complete Second Season proves funnier and less self-congratulatory and meanspirited than season 1. The show seems to have found its footing in quicker segments and sharper ideas, among them a pair of truly hilarious "red carpet" episodes in which fake journalists--some of whom don't even speak English--pester the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Alicia Silverstone, and Dule Hill with bizarre questions. (A baffled Penelope Cruz is repeatedly asked, in Spanish, about her personal hygiene while an English-speaking "reporter" demands to know if his Latina colleague is talking about him.) An unsuspecting Katie Holmes arrives at the home of filmmaker McG (Charlie's Angels) for a discussion about a project, only to watch in horror as McG (who is in on the joke) weakly fends off accusations from his "fiancée" that he is having a fling with Holmes. Halle Berry is denied entrance to the world premiere of her star-driven feature Gothika while the film's producer, Joel Silver, watches in amusement with Punk'd host Ashton Kutcher. The best bit, however, finds teen idol Hilary Duff taking a driving lesson from a madman who abandons her while he takes a baseball bat to another driver's spiffy red convertible. --Tom Keogh

Description

Watch as host Ashton Kutcher lets it fly with merciless pranks and practical jokes on unwitting celebrities like Justin Timberlake, Kelly Osbourne and Pink. This 2-disc set includes the complete first season of Punk'd, as well as deleted scenes and bonus footage. Somewhere amidst the home repossession, redneck in-law houseguests and makeovers from hell, there is a lesson to be learned here: keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and Ashton and the Punk'd crew under surveillance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boring, Dec 28 2003

A ripoff of The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. Honestly, who wants to see some bum trick celebrities? If you want some hidden camera stuff that's actually entertaining, get JKX season 1.

4.0 out of 5 stars Prudes Need Not Apply!, Mar 4 2004

This review is from: MTV Punk'd - Season 1 (2003) (DVD)
Punk'd shows young people expressing themselves freely, with no sense of self-consciousness. When celebrities think they're off camera, and not judged by a prudish public, they let their true colors show. Ashton's pranks *really* bring out those true colors! The pranks are heavy handed at times, but Ashton has a good heart. And sidekick prankster Dax does some very funny improvs. MTV production values can get annoying; quick cuts and special effects, funky camera angles, music coming and going without rhyme or reason.... But the content is fun -- good sport celebrities are caught off guard. The audio commentary is good too. Warning: There are tough pranks and foul language throughout the shows (that may offend people who are hurt by satirical Amazon reviews for ice cream machines). But as the Who said, "The Kids are Alright!"
