Spotlight reviews text content, filenames, and keywords (metadata) applied by users and automatically stored by files to return search results. Results are fast and smart, providing previews of returned files and the ability to filter them by kind, date, people, and location.

More Robust Conferencing: iChat AV
iChat AV updates the Panther version with various new features. Enjoy three-dimensional, multi-participant video meetings with better resolution and compression. Conduct audio conferences with up to 10 members utilizing a graphical panel with sound meters for each speaker that indicate who is speaking. Purchase and run your own Tiger server and conduct instant messaging behind your firewall.

Parental Controls

Set computer profiles for children using the aptly named Parental Controls and limit their access to system controls, documents, printers, burners, applications, email, chat, and the Web. With multiple profiles, parents can set varying levels of access for each child. Even downloaded or emailed applications are subject to parental approval first.

Drop and Drag Tool Panels: Dashboard Pull in mini applications from a menu, named the Dashboard, to complete frequent tasks, like tracking flights and stocks or looking up words in the dictionary. Add and rearrange these panels, called "widgets," on your desktop as you choose, and hide or show them with the click of a button. I'm satisfied with my purchase. My computer works perfectly. It's to be recommended for PowerPc's owners. It helps to make the most of an old Macintosh g4 computer.

Installed Mac OS X 10.4 on my older Emac computer and can say that it has made a key difference in the usefulness of this computer. With the old version (10.3) I was not even able to use Facebook efficiently. When trying to watch videos on Youtube, my browser would crash. All of this has been resolved and my computer, which I purchased used for a fraction of the price it would cost to get a new one, is now sufficient for most of what I like to do with it. However, if money is not an issue, I would highly recommend to simply replace an old computer with a new one that features the latest technology. The computer I am using is based on a Power PC processor and it appears to be hard to find any useful programs for it today.

As always a solid operating system from apple. I am not a first time user of this product, I have several years of experience using this particular version on another computer and feel that a 4 star rating is fair for its usability compared to later versions.
