From Amazon.com

The world's most clever secret agent returns for his fourth season of action, humor, and intrigue. Not much has changed for MacGyver (the very personable Richard Dean Anderson) this time around--he's still as offbeat and cerebral as before, but there are a few familiar faces joining him in season 4 (1988-89). His old friend Penny (Desperate Housewives' Teri Hatcher) appears in two episodes: the supernatural-themed season opener "The Secret of Parker House," and later, in "Cleo Rocks," which also features another returning character, though decidedly less friendly--the sinister Murdoc (Michael Des Barres, hissable as always). Also back in rotation this season is Jack Dalton (Bruce McGill), who assists Mac in several adventures before finding himself in a heap of trouble when he's accused of an attempted assassination in "Brainwashed," and Kristian Alfonso as the dangerous Deborah in the season closer "Unfinished Business" (a "clip show" that is probably the weakest episode in the season). There's also a host of well-known performers in guest roles this season, including Cuba Gooding Jr. in "The Challenge," Jason Priestly in "Blood Brothers," and a surprising turn from G. Gordon Liddy in "Collision Course," which puts Mac behind the wheel of a racecar. But the real star of the show, of course, is MacGyver's mind, which manages to get him out of some spectacular jams by the most unusual methods. Action lovers and series fans won't be disappointed by this set, even with the conspicuous lack of extras. --Paul Gaita

Description

MacGyver: The Complete Fourth Season

Cast:
Richard Dean Anderson - MacGyver
Dana Elcar - Peter Thornton

Synopsis:

MacGyver (Richard Dean Anderson) is a modern-day "knight-errant," a person people turn to in a crisis. He has a penchant for arriving on the scene in the eleventh hour, when the clock is ticking ominously and innocent lives often are at stake.

MacGyver is a packrat, collecting ordinary items of seemingly little value and stashing them in his knapsack "for a rainy day." And it is these same items that he uses to improvise his way out of trouble. MacGyver's ingenious solutions to seemingly insurmountable problems may seem like "gee-whiz" science fiction but they are not - it's all based on scientific fact.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Season That Started It All..., April 20 2010
This review is from: MacGyver: Season 1 (DVD)
I own all episodes of the series and I always come back to season 1. It's hard to pick a favorite season, but this could possibly be it. The storylines are far-fetched and entertaining - just the way I like them. The "MacGyverisms" are quite believable and very amusing. Richard Dean Anderson is young and hot (had to include that LOL).

Like other reviews suggest, transfer could be better and bonus features would be nice, but I really don't find the quality bad - especially for a show that I first watched when I was still in diapers :)

Love the show and what better place to start than with season 1? A MUST-HAVE.

3.0 out of 5 stars Agreed about transfer..., Feb 22 2005
By
This review is from: MacGyver: Season 1 (DVD)
This is a great TV series, but I do have to agree with other posters here that the transfer is terrible. For such a high demand TV series to be released on DVD I was sorely dissapointed in the transfer, and the lack of bonus features. Thankfully there are several seasons left to find features in, but I do hope they decide to start using a better transfer for this series, I think we fans have waited long enough and deserve a good transfer.

4.0 out of 5 stars MacGuyver...The Classic, Dec 26 2006

Matthew Blom "Moby" (Maple Ridge, B.C, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: MacGyver: Season 4 (DVD)
MacGuyver will always hold a special place in my heart. It all began when I was three years old and awoke to a giant rumbling sound outside our little five acre house hidden in the woods, on the outskirts of Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

A truck carrying a gigantic EMP, from the episode "Easy Target", had made a wrong turn trying to find the shooting location, a store only three hundred metres down the road. I remember my parents helping the driver to back the truck up our long driveway. For a three year old who loved action a 20 foot long laser gun left a permanent impression.

Following years of watching that single taped episode of "Easy Target" as I became an adult I realized how cool the show was. I invested in Season 4, in order to have a DVD copy of Easy Target so I can show them the truck from my story. What I discovered was a classic show, that fairly consistantly entertained.

Owning three seasons so far (4,5,6) Season 4 was definatly my favorite. However no episode of MacGuyver has lived up to the scope of "Easy Target" which had the feel and drama of a mini-movie.

One of the joys of MacGuyver has been seeing many of the local areas I grew up in. Just two days ago in Season 6 I saw an episode "Humanity" Where a gun battle takes place in the forest connected to ours. A forest we had our own paintball gun battles many years later. Having since moved, MacGuyver offers nostalgia to me that it could offer few others. And I'm happy it offers good drama...with a bit of family history.
