I was so fortunate to be given this incredible book by my Daughter for Christmas 2008. She was also so kind and patient in the translation! (She is fluent in French and it took her four hours to translate the technique, the very beginning of the book.) Our quest to make these delicious cookies began after happening upon Laduree in Paris. First bite we were hooked. (Vanilla and Ispaham are our favorites.) The techniques are very detailed and will produce excellent results providing you use only the best ingredients and follow all of the instructions. Be warned! Mr. Herme recommends you let the egg whites rest for a week PRIOR to starting the recipe. I have never had to plan a week ahead to make anything, EXCEPT Macarons. Also, be sure to follow the recommendations when baking the cookies. They take about 2-4 hours to complete as long as you have no mistakes along the way, but well worth the time. I love this book! Thank you again Ellen!

If you love Macarons and do not enjoy baking, this book is for you as the photograghy alone is amazing.

this is the book that i was looked for because pierre herme wroted this book so my curiousity to know is more...i order this book with amazon canada(i live in usa)...but the book shipped from japan so its took a little bit longer to delivery...also the price is more expensive its cost about 120 usd included shipping.this is the most expensive book that i bought in my life....
but i still want it..because there's a lot of thing in things in this book that i can use for and especially the writer (pierre herme) is the one that make the most delicious macarons in the world so that's why its worth for.....
and even i forgot how to speak french i also tried hard to translate the recipe in this book..i didn't try to bake some macaron from this book yet but from what i read the recipes in this book is helpful..i will try to bake these macaron as soon..

Wow is an under statement. This book is totally amazing. I finally received the English version (from another book vendor) and it's well worth the wait. It starts off with a introduction and background of Pierre Herme. Then there's a section on his secrets to making macarons with pictures for each step, assembling, utensils and frequently asked questions. Pierre Herme divides his macaron flavors into "the classics", "fetish flavours", "Signature Macarons", "Made to Order Macarons", "Exceptions". He has created such flavor combinations as a Lemon & Avocado, Osetra caviar & walnut brandy, Black truffle macaron, Olive oil & vanilla macaron. Lots of different flavor combinations I never would have thought of.

This is one of the best macaron books I have and it was worth the price and long wait for delivery. I can't wait to try some of his combinations.

I bought a Japanese version of this book in a bookstore in Kyoto. Have tried a raspberry macaron recipe and it was very nice.

I haven't got this book yet, however, the chocolate macaron recipe in his Chocolate Desserts book looks fantastic (every other recipe I have tried in that book is great- consistently achievable and tasty). I have pre-ordered the English edition of this book through book depository.com and it is due to be published on September 19th 2011.

Unfortunately, the only way to get this book at an even thinkable price was through Amazon.fr. And even then, the vendors wouldn't all ship to USA, so it was still a little prohibitive price wise for just a cook book... yet still had to have it, so I managed to track down someone IN FRANCE to have it shipped to. Pretty dramatic, yes, but I wasn't about to spend an insane amount of $$, but was nuts over getting it.
