4.0 out of 5 stars Top of the World Thrills, and a Great Love Story!!!, May 12 2005
By Barry Fitzsimmons - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Mad Dog Mountain (Paperback)
Mad Dog Mountain is where the real men, and women, go. You and I do not know these people--skiers and mountaineers who fly under the radar of society. They are subsistence-living thrill-seekers who feed on adrenaline, and their faith in God. Chair-lifts are for wussies. Double-black diamonds are just there for warm ups. Off-piste? Off course! Hard-training, high-altitude types like Nancy, Jimmy, Butch and Princess Ra, to name a few, pay a high price to "free the heel" and feed their Jones. Some pay the ultimate price.

So, what happens when a pair of these young tele-heads (she: a snow bunny on steriods--the legal kind; he: a too-handsome Richie-Rich radical) discover, among the chaos and excitement of near-vertical Grand Teton thrills, their hearts connecting, and realize, perhaps too late, that they are soul mates? If the answer's not at the peak, then it may lay at the bottom of that mountain--and, man, there's only one way down.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Mountain... or world. Can you out-ski an avalanche?

...can you out-ski God?

Try "Mad Dog Mountain."

Author's note:

How can I be the first to review Richard Day's mountain opus, with all of the tele-heads out there who are actually accomplishing these astonishing feats of vertical derring do, and surviving? I thought backcountry brothers supported each other. C'mon, dudes!
