Steve Goreham has compiled the pertinent scientific facts regarding the climate change issue. The book includes an adequate number of charts and graphs to illustrate his points. There are also a number of side bars which I found entertaining. In my opinion Goreham does an excellent and credible job of countering the myth that climate change is within the control of mankind. He does touch on some of the motivations which have perpetrated this issue having gained popular acceptance but leaves me wanting more in this regard. There are many other books which cover the same terrain as Goreham but he does an exceptional job of making the issues accessible to almost every reader interested in this subject.

Mr Goreham: please write another book on this contentious issue, i.e., an update, especially to defeat the lies of Naomi Klein and their ilk. Thanks!

HASH(0x9f02f0f0) out of 5 stars Needs footnotes and an index. July 28 2014

A great read. Nothing new here, but he's pulled together a lot of threads and woven them into a coherent readable debunking of the United Nations climate scam. This should be on every student's bookshelf as an effective antidote to the brainwashing going on in schools today.

HASH(0x9f02f330) out of 5 stars Entertaining comments May 5 2013

Reading the reviews is great fun, particularly the attacks on the book and its author based on his association with the Heartland Institute. In part those are entertaining because they so blatantly try to substitute various versions of the Ad Hominem fallacy for substantive argument, combined with equally blatant and fallacious Arguments from Authority. It's all especially funny when the critic admits that he has read only a small portion of the book and couldn't even find the end notes. What comes across most clearly is that some of these folks are not used to being challenged and having to defend their own position on its merits.

But what's truly hilarious is to see folks from the science establishment pretending not to have their own financial and other interests at stake in this debate. It's too funny! Climate change science is a taxpayer-funded mini-industry: Lots of research institutes -- does the green energy industry help fund those? -- that provide fat salaries and well-paid, high-status, high-visibility positions inside and outside of academia, endless paid-for conferences in fancy international locations with premium hotel and other accommodations, specialized journals to publish your articles and thus fatten the vita for academic promotions and pay increases, research contracts and grants by the boatload, invitations to sit on government panels and advisory boards, lucrative consultant posts, and on and on. The Earth- and Atmospheric Sciences never, ever had it so good.

The notion that climate scientists are an unbiased and disinterested source of commentary on a book like this is preposterous. All the Ad Hominem sputtering and Assertions from Authority are just another version of the panicked attempts to shut off debate with nonsense about "settled science." Baloney. Only by blind luck could true knowledge in an area this complex and poorly understood be represented by computer models that are replete with errors of specification and measurement. It's farcical. The outraged defensive reactions you see here from representatives of the climate science establishment are exactly what you always see when any heavily-invested interest group sees its gravy train in danger of being de-railed.

Pop some corn, sit back and enjoy, because this show is just getting started. There's a photo on the web this morning of two Meteorology profs at San Jose State, one holding this book over a lit match held by the other. Book burning used to be the province of religious fanatics intent on eliminating heresy. In a way, I guess it still is.

HASH(0x9f02f690) out of 5 stars Another Heretic June 16 2013

This fine book has an overall rating of only 3 1/2 stars because the minions from the church of ManBearPig have come forth to silence the Deniers. It is interesting to note that a fair number of the book's critics have not bothered to read it, but are content to base their shrill reviews on a cursory skimming. I can picture their apoplectic rage, causing them to leave spittle on their monitor, as Sylvester The Cat might do while pounding out their self righteous critiques.

Now to the book. In the first part, Mr. Goreham introduces the many individuals and organizations that support the idea of AGW. He does this in a respectful way, without any "smirking", as some have suggested. After that, he proceeds to address every aspect of the debate, from A to Z, in a reasoned presentation of facts, that any first rate courtroom attorney would envy. Some have accused the author of not being a scientist. I believe that his MS in Electrical Engineering provide more than ample credentials in science, and its applications in the real world. His ability to understand the nuances of the scientific method in determining causal relationships far greater than that of ALGOR.

Readers may consider reading the last couple of pages of the book before starting at the beginning. These point out that many well meaning adherents of AGM are prompted by the "Precautionary Principle". Unfortunately, in a world with finite resources, and the many worthy needs clamoring for them; we cannot afford to spend untold sums on an unproven calamity.

I have loaned my copy of this very readable book to a friend who is a believer in AGW, with a request that he keep a writing tablet nearby, so that he might jot down any factual errors, or items that he disagrees with. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with. As with a couple of other books that I have been taken with, I may buy a second copy to make part of my personal lending library. At my request. the Phoenix Public Library is in the process of adding this book to its collection.

The debate is not over. Note that Mr. Goreham has offered to debate his opponents, with no takers thus far.

can't say enough about the dedicated research and the immense debunking of the current religion of climatism that the leftist, socialist pagans are spoon-feeding the press and this current administration. What a money pit is the lie of the left. Al Gore is just one of a huge number of bloated boobs on the side of the money-changers....they win and American enterprise loses.
