Product Description

From Amazon.com

The penguins steal the show. In the sprightly Madagascar, a mid-life crisis inspires Marty the Zebra (voiced by Chris Rock) to escape from his lifelong home, a New York zoo. His equally pampered friends--Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer)--then escape to bring him back. Unfortunately, their attempt at damage control persuades zoo officials that the animals are unhappy, so all four get shipped to an animal preserve in Kenya...only a squad of maniacal penguins change the destination to Antarctica. The quartet end up on an island where, in addition to meeting some hedonistic lemurs, they learn about the food chain--and that Alex is a different link on the chain from the other three. Madagascar doesn't achieve the snappy perfection of a Pixar movie, but it tops most other computer-animated efforts; the collision of friendship and predator instincts makes for an unusually gripping conflict. The vocal performances of the central characters is serviceable, but Sacha Baron Cohen (Da Ali G Show) provides topnotch lunacy as the lemur king, and the penguins--voiced mostly by the animators themselves--are the best thing in the movie. --Bret Fetzer

Hillarious Entertainment for the Whole Family! Feb 15 2009
By James Gallen TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
"Madagascar" is an animated comedy in which four stars, a zebra, a lion, a hippo and a giraffe, of the Central Park Zoo decide to find their destiny in "The Wild." After making their improbable escape, they end up on the island of Madagascar on which they learn that they really did not have it so bad and that the grass is not always greener on the other side. They even find out that they change when they are away from their friendly surroundings. You will be laughing so hard that you will not even think about the message. This is just hilarious entertainment for the whole family. Enjoy!

riotously enjoyable animated romp (4.5/5) Feb 1 2008
By falcon TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
for me,this is a ridiculously funny animated adventure.i had a riot
while watching.there's some great funny dialogue, some hysterical
physical comedy.there is nothing subtle about this movie.they really
hit you over the head with the comedy.but in this case, that's a good
thing.but beyond comedy, there's also some adventure.the story is also
good.the movie is well paced, and has a terrific mix of characters, each
with their own quirky traits, who all seem to fit well together.the
voice work is very good here.every character's voice fits perfectly.the
film is rated G,which is appropriate, although here is some rude humour
involved.as far as animated comedy/adventures,this is one of the
best.for me Madagascar is a 4.5/5
