HASH(0x9cc04990) out of 5 stars Awesome Book--Honest, Heartfelt, True Sacrifices May 9 2014
By DRR - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I found this book at used book sale from a local library and picked it up. I have liked other books by Oral H., Brett Butler, and Dave Dravecky to name a few.
This is a book by both Tim and his wife Christine and their lives. They share about hard up-bringings, getting married, a rocky relationship, and a major turning point in their lives: trusting in Jesus Christ.
Things didn't turn into roses after giving God control of their lives--they chose to do hard yet rewarding things. They adopted children needing a familiy, some with severe special needs. They stepped out of their comfort zones, trusted God, and began an amazing adventure!
I am really glad I picked up this book and highly recommend it!

HASH(0x9cbfef6c) out of 5 stars Tim Burke is a DAD who happened to play baseball. Feb. 21 2013
By william lee - Published on
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I was fortunate enough to have met Tim Burke many years ago, while I was a season ticket holder at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. My seats were right behind the vistors bullpen and I had quite a few occasions to have small discussion with Tim (and other pitchers). I KNEW - from those discussions - a little about his "story" prior to reading this book, but was very pleased to finally see it "written down" and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It is a great read for Dads (and Moms AND kids) and fans of baseball - or just fans of GOOD PEOPLE!
HASH(0x9cc01d68) out of 5 stars Inspiring book about balancing demands and raising a family. Feb. 22 2015
By Jeffrey C. Reynolds - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I had the privilege of reading this book years ago. It is definitely an inspiring story. It deals with the real issues they dealt with, and has plenty of humor in it as well.

BTW, this book also was condensed and included in an issue of Reader's Digest.

Wow!! Received my book in timely manner and well wrapped in shipment. Then I found the author had actually signed it AND there was a baseball card inserted as well.

HASH(0x9cc018e8) out of 5 stars Marriage, Priorities, Evangelism, Special Needs Children Sept. 2 1998
By Drake Mariani - Published on
Format: Audio Cassette
Tim, an All Star Pitcher, retires early to dedicate his time to his wife Christine and his growing family of special needs adopted children. I was really moved by this back and forth conversation between Tim and Christine. You'll want to give this to anyone considering Christianity. The Burkes chronicle their spiritual journey with wonderful transparency until they trust Christ when their marriage was in trouble. Any couple would benefit from their hard learned lessons. I loved it!
