Make Believe is a triumphant return to classic Weezer!, April 29 2005
This review is from: Make Believe (Limited Edition Digipak) (Audio CD)
Make Believe is a triumphant return to classic Weezer, but with a new more mature form! I have been a Weezer fan for a very long time and must say I was a little nervous about the new album. Well let me say it far surpassed my expectations. It is not a rerun of Blue, Pinkerton, or Green. It has however, strong elements of each of these albums. Tracks such as "Perfect Situation", "Hold Me", "The Damage in Your Heart", "Peace" and "Pardon Me" will please the most discriminating Weezer fan. I have heard this album at least 30 times by posting this review and the album simply grows stronger with each listen. Weezer re-invent themselves on several tracks including the haunting "Freak Me Out" (I am convinced this is about a homeless guy and not a spider) and "This is Such a Pity" all with great success. If you like rockin' tunes they put a couple of rockers on there too with "Beverly Hills" (the most successful Weezer single to date) and the future summer hit "We Are All on Drugs". Truly the highlight of the album is the closing song, "Haunt You Every Day" with lyrics "So alone in love..." echoing in your mind for days. I can not recommend this album enough, BUY IT!

good work boys, May 13 2005
This review is from: Make Believe (Limited Edition Digipak) (Audio CD)
Its about time weezer got back to those awesome melodies that made the blue album so memorable. It seemed as though with each record, the group became more and more raw, focusing on heavier tones and louder guitar lines. Make Beleive however, is a more emotionally charged rythmic record that can be appreciated by any weezer fan. With songs like hold me, pardon me, we're all on drugs and peace there's no doubt that weezer fans will appreciate the newest installment from rivers.

Weezer will never make you blue, May 12 2005
This review is from: Make Believe (Limited Edition Digipak) (Audio CD)
I love Weezer. I have to admit that the blue cd is still my favourite but maybe this is because you never forget your first time (for hearing Weezer, not THAT first time) This cd is less grungy , has a clean sound, and dare i say it, poppier, than previous outings. This is not a bad thing, the lyrics are more heartfelt and less obscure than Madadroit or the green cd. Early standouts, Beverly Hills for its sense of irony and catchy hooks, We are all on drugs, and the beautiful Hold Me. Just had my daughter take me to see them in concert recently and it was by far, the best Mothers DAy gift this 43 year old has ever experienced. Thanks Weezer
